Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg adjudged the best in Section 337 investigations

A study conducted by independent practitioners revealed the international trade law firm Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg, LLP topped the chart, in high-profile IP litigations. With Section 337 cases flooding the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and its growing demand with the Fortune 500 companies, it was palpable for AMS to climb the success ladder, with the firm's core competency in handling 337 investigations. The study carried out by American Legal Media (ALM) titled "International Savoir Faire: Knowing the ropes at the ITC has boosted the Practice of Boutique Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg - Other firms also prosper" available in the June 2007 issue of IP Law & Business, also validated AMS leadership in IP litigation at the ITC. The U.S. International Trade Commission carries out the section 337 investigations. Majority of the investigations hinges around intellectual property rights including allegations of patent infringement and trademark infringement by imported goods. Even utility and design patents as well as registered and common-law trademarks are accorded paramount importance in these investigations.

Top law firms vow to make the world green

In an endeavor to play their part well in tackling global warming issues, numerous large law firms went on a 'go green' spree by celebrating the World Environment day with lots of fervor and passion. The law firms including Linklaters, Eversheds, Simmons & Simmons, and Hammonds joined hands in a bid to express their unflinching solidarity toward Mother Nature. Linklaters has designed a website, wherein the attorneys will pledge everyday of the coming six months to do whatever little they can to save the environment. Eversheds has rolled out a 'big switch off" campaign. The rationale behind Eversheds' campaign is to drum up enough enthusiasm in the attorneys to put off computers and lights once they have done with their work. Hammonds has come up with an environmental policy draft to be posted on the intranet, so as to garner support to cut down energy consumption.

Vandervoort partners Tibbits for "Can-Can"

What do attorneys do when they don't don the mantel of lawyers? They form alliances with local firms of varied hues to bring color to areas they work for. In a similar attempt, the law firm of Vandervoort, Christ and Fisher, P.C., is teaming with Tibbits Opera House by sponsoring the eighth Tibbits Summer Theatre's production of "Can-Can." The show on June 28 marks the opening of the 2007 professional season. Established in 1943 by Millard Vandervoort, the full service law firm located in Coldwater and Battle Creek has provided high-quality general practice legal services on a wide range of business and estate planning matters. The firm's Coldwater doors opened in 1999 offering services in more than 13 practice areas. This alliance with Tibbits, which began in 2000 by sponsoring "The Man Who Came To Dinner," continues to exhibit the law firm's commitment to arts and the community.

Founded in 1882, Tibbits Opera House is one of the oldest theatres in Michigan. It offers excellent acoustics, an intimate 500-seat setting, and a variety of quality performances year round. Can-Can is a story set in the 1890's Paris. Pistache, a dance hall owner, together with connivance of a local law enforcement bypasses a ban on a dance where women shamefully lift their skirts, the 'can can.' This, however, could continue until a new judge set foot in the town. The show runs from June 28 through July 7.

Schiffrin Barroway to combine forces with Israeli law firm Man-Barak

Securities and class action specialists Philadelphia-based law firm Schiffrin Barroway Topaz & Kessler has combined forces with Israeli law firm Man-Barak Advocates & Solicitors to help Israeli institutional investors with class action services. The firm’s “Securities Tracker” service provides constant monitoring of the institutional investors’ portfolios to spot potential claims for damages as a result of corporate wrongdoing. These institutional investors often have to seek compensation for fraudulent misuse of their investments in the U.S. and Israel. They also want to discuss about what rights they have with respect to investments in other regions and how the monitoring program would benefit pension funds, mutual fund managers, and hedge funds and other investors. The firm recently announced a historic $3 billion settlement with Tyco International, Ltd., and has also represented a group of European institutional investors in an unprecedented settlement with Royal Dutch Shell with regard to the company’s oil reserve fraud. The firm has more than 60 attorneys and a staff of 100 in its roster.
