Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto Receives 2007 Burton Legal Achievement Award
Leading intellectual property law firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto is proud to announce that attorneys Marc J. Pensabene and Christopher Loh were named recipients of the 2007 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for their article, “How to Assess Trade Secret Damages,” originally published in the June 2006 issue of Managing Intellectual Property. This year’s award marks the third time the firm has received this prestigious honor, an accomplishment for which the law firm will be recognized. Fitzpatrick, Cella attorneys received 2006 and 2004 Burton Legal Achievement Awards.

Each year, The Burton Foundation, in association with The Library of Congress and its Law Library, honors lawyers based on their writing ability, and in particular, those “who use plain, modern language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese.” This year, 30 law firm award winners were selected from a mass of applications submitted by 600 of the largest U.S. law firms.

“We feel honored that our firm has been recognized again by the Burton Foundation and are pleased to congratulate Marc and Chris,” said Fitzpatrick, Cella Managing Partner Dominick A. Conde. “Fitzpatrick Cella is dedicated to the pursuit of legal excellence and the scholarship of our attorneys. I consider this award a testament to our commitment to quality.”

The awards event will be held on June 4 in the Coolidge Auditorium of the Library of Congress. Bob Schieffer, CBS News’ chief Washington correspondent, will be the guest speaker, and Bill Press, formerly of “Crossfire,” will be the Master of Ceremonies. Additional information about the award and event can be found at www.burtonawards.com.

Marc J. Pensabene, a partner, has extensive experience in patent and trade secret litigation in the electrical and mechanical arts. Some of the technologies he has worked with include computer hardware and software, computer architecture and system design, electronic commerce and trading systems, automotive electronics and control systems, surgical tools, differential scanning calorimeters and other scientific instruments. He obtained his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1994 and a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1991.

Christopher Loh is an associate at the firm. His practice focuses on patent litigation, with an emphasis on pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Mr Loh's experience also includes intellectual property licensing in the area of patents, copyrights and trademarks. He obtained his J.D. from Columbia University in 1998 and a B.S. in Molecular Biochemistry & Economics from Yale University in 1995.
