Private Equity Analyst Ranks O'Melveny Among Most Active Law Firms
Private Equity Analyst ranks O'Melveny fifth among the most active law firms based on the number of private equity and venture capital deals negotiated and closed in 2006. The Firm completed 116 private equity deals and 249 venture deals last year.

O'Melveny also ranked 16th among the most active law firms based on the number of private equity or venture capital funds worked on for general partners and limited partners with a final close in 2006.

"The Firm has really developed a terrific platform for private investment work here in the Silicon Valley, in New York, and in key emerging markets like Asia and the U.K.," said partner Warren Lazarow. "We are committed to playing at the top of the venture capital and private equity market, and our continued strong showings in Private Equity Analyst's league tables and other publications are an indication that the marketplace is recognizing our efforts and successes.

Tim Downing joins Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio board
Ulmer & Berne LLP announced today that one of its partners, Timothy J. Downing, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio.

The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio advances diversity, challenges assumptions and advocates for understanding through education and training. Founded in 1927 as the National Conference of Christians and Jews, the Diversity Center is currently part of the National Federation for Just Communities, a network of 20 regions across the country. To accomplish its mission, the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio provides proactive programming to address community diversity challenges, and also creates strategic partnerships with like-missioned organizations.

As an Employment & Labor attorney with Ulmer & Berne, Mr. Downing helps companies develop and implement policies to attract the best and the brightest employees, protect their confidential information and resolve conflicts with employees who claim to have been discriminated against on the basis of age, race, sex, disability or sexual orientation. He also helps companies resolve conflicts with their customers and competitors. Mr. Downing has been named a “Leading Lawyer” by Inside Business magazine for the past six years and an “Ohio Super Lawyer” (2004, 2005).

Cheryl Korman of Rivkin Radler Named Among Long Island's 50 Most Influential Women
Cheryl Korman, of Melville, a Partner in Rivkin Radler's Litigation & Appeals Practice Group, has been named among Long Island's 50 Most Influential Women by the Long Island Business News. Launched in 2000, the Top 50 Program honors the Island's premier professional women for their exceptional accomplishments, business acumen, mentoring and charitable and community involvement. The honorees represent the most influential women in business, government, education and not for profit fields.

Well deserving of this honor, Ms. Korman's work has been recognized as being among the best. In 2004, she was named among the Long Island Business News' 40 Rising Stars Under 40.

Ms. Korman has been involved as an active participant in mentoring young attorneys both through her involvement in the firm's Women Attorneys Marketing Group, as well as with the firm's newer associates. By working closely with these female colleagues, she not only provides guidance, assistance, and a tremendous learning experience, her efforts further enhance the firm's team spirit and productivity.

An active volunteer and supporter for the Nassau Chapter of the American Heart Association, this year Ms. Korman served as Vice Chair of the organization's 6th Annual "Have a Heart" benefit luncheon. This luncheon is held annually to raise the level of awareness within our communities on women's health issues. She has been involved in the orchestration of this annual event since its inception and has worked hard to see it grow into an enormously successful fundraising and networking event. Ms. Korman was recently named Chairperson for the 2008 Luncheon.

Ms. Korman has also been involved in the Nassau County Dress For Success Program, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help economically disadvantaged women acquire the skills and appearance necessary to obtain and maintain productive jobs. In addition to coordinating a suit drive at Rivkin Radler, she has worked closely with Dress for Success to provide assistance and advice on the non-profit's fund-raising efforts.

Cheryl Korman is a member of JALBCA [Judges and Lawyer's Breast Cancer Alert], the Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Nassau Women's Bar Association.

PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNERS JAMES D. DONATHEN AND JAMES R. GRASSO TO PARTICIPATE IN EMPLOYMENT LAW SEMINAR
James D. Donathen and James R. Grasso, Partners with Phillips Lytle LLP, a full service law firm with statewide coverage, will serve as presenters in an upcoming Sterling Education Services seminar titled “Employment Law Update in New York.” The daylong seminar, which will focus on hot topics in employment law, FLSA issues, leave laws, separation agreements and paperless workplace issues, takes place on June 21, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.

At Phillips Lytle, Mr. Donathen concentrates in the area of labor and employment law. He holds a J.D., cum laude, from University of Notre Dame Law School and a B.A., magna cum laude, also from University of Notre Dame. Included in The Best Lawyers in America®, Mr. Donathen is a member of the American, New York and Erie County Bar Associations, as well as a member of the Labor and Employment Relations Association of WNY and Employee Relations Association of WNY. He also serves as human resources committee chair on the YMCA Board of Directors.

Mr. Grasso, Administrator of the Phillips Lytle’s Labor, Employment, and Immigration Practice Group, focuses his practice in the area of labor and employment on behalf of management in the private and public sectors. A member of the American, New York and Erie County Bar Associations, he holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from University at Buffalo School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Hobart College. In addition, Mr. Grasso is a member of the Employment Law Committee for the Defense Research Institute.

MILES & STOCKBRIDGE LAWYER BECOMES FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRIAL LAWYERS
Miles & Stockbridge P.C. is pleased to announce that Daniel R. Lanier has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers – one of the premier legal associations in America. Lanier was one of only three inducted in Maryland.

Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years of trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.

Membership in the College cannot exceed one percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,610 members in the United States and Canada.

Partner selected as Attorney of the Year by Gate City Bar Association Judicial Section.
Partner Ty Brown was selected as Attorney of the Year by the Gate City Bar Association Judicial Section. Ty was also recently named Co-Chair of the Fund Raising Committee for the Judicial Council of the National Bar Association. The Gate City Bar Association is an organization with a rich history in Atlanta, Georgia and the nation. It is an affiliate chapter of the National Bar Association (NBA). The NBA, celebrating 75 years of history, is the principal advocate for the interests of Black lawyers, judges and law students.

Life Sciences Group Plans for BIO 2007 - Visit Bell Boyd at Booth 2132
Bell, Boyd & Lloyd's Life Sciences attorneys will participate in the internationally acclaimed Annual Convention of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) held this year in Boston from May 6 - 9, 2007.
