Fisch Law Review Article Cited by the US Supreme Court
In its landmark decision about the extraterritorial reach of US patents, Microsoft Corp. v. AT&T Corp. (April 30, 2007), the US Supreme Court twice cites a law review article co-authored by litigation partner Alan Fisch -- Fisch & Allen, The Application of Domestic Patent Law to Exported Software: 35 U.S.C. §271(f), U. Pa. J. Int'l Econ. L. 557 (2004). In this case, the Supreme Court ruled that 35 U.S.C. § 271(f) did not bar Microsoft from supplying a master disk containing the Windows software for copying and installation abroad, when doing so domestically would have infringed AT&T's US patent.

Jones Day Partner Bernard Amory Named Regulatory Communications Lawyer of the Year for the Third Consecutive Year
"Bernard E. Amory of Jones Day has been named the world's leading regulatory communications lawyer in the 2007 Who's Who Legal Awards. Mr. Amory has won this award every year since its inception in 2005.

Bernard Amory's experience in the regulatory communications area began as an official in the Directorate General IV (Competition) of the European Commission in charge of the application of the competition rules in the telecommunications sector. During his service, he played a key role in the liberalisation of the European telecommunications market. As a Commission official and as a private practitioner, he has dealt with the full range of regulatory matters on behalf of fixed and mobile operators and has assisted governments across the world in relation to telecommunications legislation.

Who's Who Legal has used the thousands of nominations received from clients and private practice professionals in the course of an ongoing research process to identify the pre-eminent lawyer and firm in each of the 27 practice areas covered in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers 2007, a compendium edition of all the individual Who's Who Legal publications released in April.

Editor in chief Callum Campbell said: ""It is an outstanding achievement to win the Who's Who Legal; The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers Regulatory Communications Lawyer of the Year Award for a third consecutive time. Bernard Amory's continuing success demonstrates a consistent and unparalleled level of performance and service to clients. We have no hesitation in declaring him the leading lawyer for regulatory communications expertise.""

The awards are based on a number of factors, including the feedback received in the ongoing research process, past performance in the research and the overall aggregate number of weighted votes cast in their favour. In addition to identifying the leading firm and individual in each practice area, the awards also recognise the overall leading firm in 48 countries and five US states. Who's Who Legal lists only the leading practitioners in each field, based exclusively on the findings of a six month independent research process.

The book is distributed free of charge to thousands of corporate counsel and private practice lawyers from around the world. The information is also available without charge on www.WhosWhoLegal.com and is updated on a daily basis.

In 2006, Who's Who Legal's parent company Law Business Research was recognized by The Queen's Awards for Enterprise in the area of international trade, having demonstrated significant growth in overseas earnings and commercial success. These awards are the most prestigious a British company can receive, and are made annually by the Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister, assisted by an advisory committee drawn from government, industry and commerce and the trade unions. In addition, Who's Who Legal is also the official research partner of the International Bar Association."
