Michael D. Grohman Named Vice Chair of Estates and Asset Planning at Duane Morris
Duane Morris LLP, one of the nation's 100 largest law firms, has named Michael D. Grohman, a partner in the firm's New York office, vice chair of the Duane Morris Estates and Asset Planning Practice Group.

The appointment was jointly announced today by firm Chairman Sheldon Bonovitz and Frank Cooper, head of the Estates and Asset Practice Group.

"Michael has proved to be an excellent leader among the members of the Estates and Asset Planning Practice Group," Bonovitz said. "I am confident that he will do an extraordinary job as vice chair."

"I know that Michael will be a sound leader for the team," said Frank. "He is an accomplished estates and asset planning lawyer who continually performs superb work for the firm."

Grohman practices in tax, estate planning and estate and trust administration law, with a particular emphasis on estate planning for professional athletes and for owners of closely-held businesses. He is a frequent lecturer for the Practising Law Institute and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and is a former adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law. In addition, Michael is a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment of South Orange, N.J.

Admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, Michael received his L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1993, and his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1983. He received his B.S. from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.

Duane Morris' Estates and Asset Planning Practice Group provides estates, trusts, asset planning and related litigation services to individuals, business owners, charitable organizations and fiduciaries. For each client, the team serves as a counselor with the goal of listening to business and personal needs and understanding what the client desires in order to achieve the necessary peace of mind. GUNSTER YOAKLEY ATTORNEY RECEIVES HIGHEST SCORE ON THE FLORIDA BAR EXAM IN SIX-COUNTY RADIUS
Danny Glassman, a corporate attorney at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart in West Palm Beach and a member of its Tax Practice Group, received the highest combined score on the Florida Bar exam for the Fourth District Court of Appeal, which is comprised of Palm Beach, Broward, St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.

Glassman concentrates his practice in federal and state taxation, including corporate, partnership and individual taxation; general corporate law; and estate and gift tax.

He received his juris doctorate graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida, where he finished first in his class. While in law school, Glassman served as the managing editor of the Florida Law Review and received 10 Book Awards. He received his master’s of accounting degree and his bachelor’s degree, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of Florida.

Mergerstat Ranks Alston & Bird 16th Among the Top 50 Legal Advisors
In its April report, Mergerstat® ranked Alston & Bird 16th among the top 50 legal advisors based on the number of deals handled and 41st among the top 50 legal advisors for the value of deals handled through the end of March. Since the beginning of the year, Alston & Bird attorneys handled 13 deals with a total value of $7.1 billion.

Simpson Thacher Represents Vertafore, Inc. in Acquisition of Advanced Solutions, Inc.
The firm represented Vertafore, Inc. in its acquisition of Advanced Solutions, Inc., which is a privately-held document management and workflow solutions provider for insurance companies. Advanced Solutions operates under the trade name of ImageRight. Simultaneously with the acquisition, Vertafore refinanced its outstanding borrowings under its senior secured credit facility, using a portion of the borrowings to purchase all of the outstanding shares of Advanced Solutions from its founders. The completion of the acquisition was announced publicly on April 11, 2007. Vertafore, Inc. is majority owned by affiliates of Hellman & Friedman.

Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters in $532 million Cinemark IPO
Simpson Thacher represented Lehman Brothers, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, as representatives of the underwriters, in connection with the initial public offering of common stock of Cinemark Holdings, Inc., which closed on April 27, 2006. The transaction was comprised of a $263.9 million primary offering and a $268.1 million secondary offering. Cinemark's shares are now listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "CNK".

Cinemark is the third largest motion picture exhibitor in the U.S., with 281 theatres and 3,523 screens in 37 states and with 115 theatres and 965 screens in Latin America.

Sedgwick Hosts Women’s Forum Tea With Linda Yu, Emmy-Winning Reporter
Linda Yu, co-anchor and reporter for ABC 7 News (Chicago), addressed Sedgwick attorneys, clients and other distinguished guests at Sedgwick Chicago’s Women’s Forum Tea on April 26, 2007, at Chicago’s Four Seasons Hotel.

One of Chicago's most respected and well-known broadcasters, Yu co-anchors ABC 7's top-rated 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. newscasts. Inducted into the prestigious Silver Circle of legendary Chicago broadcasters, Yu has earned five local Emmy awards during her career in Chicago. Most recently, she received an Emmy for a special report, “Chicago’s Road to China.”

Yu received a prior Emmy for her contributions to a half-hour, primetime special examining the impact of Sept. 11 one year later. In 1987, she received an Emmy for outstanding achievement within a regularly scheduled news program, spot coverage. In 1982, she won for her coverage of a construction accident in Chicago's Loop, and in 1981, she received an Emmy for a special newscast on the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan.
