The law firm of Kluger Peretz Kaplan & Berlin is pleased to announce that Jonathan Louis, Partner in the business and real estate transactions practice, is the 2007 recipient of the James and Marjorie Baer Outstanding Young Leadership Award.

The award is given to an individual who has demonstrated leadership, dedication and vision at all levels within the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County Florida (“JFSPBC”) and the Jewish community.

“Jonathan is so deserving of this award and he was nominated among so many outstanding young leaders in our community. The past winners of this award are among the most prestigious leaders in our community and I know that Jonathan’s involvement and leadership will continue for many years to come,” stated Margorie Baer.

The James and Marjorie Baer Outstanding Young Leadership Award was first presented in 1982. James Baer, a well-known philanthropist and respected leader in the South Florida Jewish community, was the founding President of the JFSPBC and helped to establish many of its agencies. Marjorie Baer was the first president of the Women’s Division and is credited with bringing the Lion of Judah program to the JFSPBC from the Miami Federation. Many of its former recipients have gone on to take significant leadership roles in the Federation and the community.

Jonathan Louis became involved with the Young Adult Division (YAD) in 2003, has since served in numerous capacities, including the Young Men’s Forum and as co-chair of the YAD from 2005-2006. Mr. Louis had a significant impact on the creation of the Metro Division which replaced YAD last year. He currently is a co-chair of Metro and has been a member of the Federation Board since 2005, sitting on the Federation Executive Committee last year.

“I believe that the Federation is the strongest organization in the world capable of helping Jews in need,” explains Jonathan Louis. “I am passionate about its mission and I love to tell others about the importance of supporting organizations that make a difference in peoples’ lives.”

As a business and real estate attorney, Mr. Louis works on structuring and negotiating agreements related to business expansions, mergers, acquisitions, debt or equity offerings, and both residential and commercial real estate sales, leases, and purchases. Jonathan Louis and his family, wife Ollie, daughter Sarah, and one on the way, were also featured in this year’s UJA/Federation campaign video and print ads.
