DJP Advising NFL Players Association
Matthew Grimmer of DJP has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the five person Financial Programs Advisory Committee for the National Football League Players Association ("NFLPA"). Grimmer has represented and advised professional athletes for several years. In his role with the NFLPA, Grimmer will recommend guidelines, rules and regulations to the NFLPA for adoption into its Registered Player Financial Advisors program. Mr. Grimmer will utilize his significant experience in fiduciary litigation to help the NFLPA promote and increase the integrity of those representing NFL players in financial matters.

Leadership in Law.
We are proud to have two of our attorneys represented in the 2006 Leadership in Law program. This program was created The Journal Record to honor those in the legal profession who strive to improve the communities where they live and work.

Selected from our Tulsa office is S. Douglas Dodd. His honors are numerous but he still has time to volunteer serving on the boards of Citizen CPR and Foundation for Tulsa Schools.

James F. Harvey, III, from our Oklahoma City office, was bestowed with this honor for his extra curricular activities dealing with intellectual property. He enjoys working with student groups by making presentations and has mentored individual law student during the summer months.

Congratulations to both of our honorees. We thank them for their contributions to the state of Oklahoma and their areas of practice.

Crain's New York Business: Lynn Bodkin Joins Thacher Proffitt as Counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group
Lynn Bodkin was included in the "Executive moves" column in Crain's New York Business for rejoining Thacher Proffitt as counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group. Lynn was an associate with Thacher Proffitt from 1986-1989.

Latham & Watkins Advises SeeBeyond in its $387 Million Acquisition by Sun Microsystems
Sun Microsystems, Inc. and SeeBeyond Technology Corporation announced a merger agreement that allowed Sun to acquire SeeBeyond for $387 million in cash. Latham & Watkins represented SeeBeyond in the transaction, which is expected to close this fall. The transaction marked the latest in a series of recent Southern California technology M&A deals in which Latham played a significant role - including the sales of Rent.com to eBay and of LowerMyBills to Experian. The Latham team was led from the Los Angeles office by partners David Hernand and Ted Sonnenschein. Other team members included Los Angeles partners Jim Barrall on benefits, Larry Stein on tax and Roxanne Christ on IP, as well as New York partner Bruce Prager on antitrust. Latham associates on the transaction included Janice Liu, Kimberlee Hiatt, Dean Steinbeck, Yury Kapgan, Lawrence Seymour, Manfred Gabriel and Mona Wang.

Alan Freeman Appointed to Community Service Leadership Positions
Blank Rome partner Alan M. Freeman has been recently honored with several community organization leadership appointments, including his election to the 25-person Board of Governors of the Charles E. Smith Life Communities, formerly known as the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, and his election as vice president of the Boards of Directors for both the Ring House and Landow House.

The Charles E. Smith Life Communities is home to more than 1,000 seniors who enjoy access to independent living services, assisted living, outpatient health care, rehabilitation, and nursing home care. Anchored by the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, which was established in 1910, residences are located on a campus setting in Rockville, Maryland. The two organizations are both within the Charles E. Smith Life Communities: the Ring House is an independent-living facility and the Landow House is an assisted-living facility.

Landow House, Ring House, Revitz House, and the Hebrew Home are local, not-for-profit organizations open to all members of the community that share a commitment to the Jewish value of honoring the elderly and ensuring the dignity of each individual.

Mr. Freeman is active in the civic community of Montgomery County, Maryland. He holds an appointment by the county executive to the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board, which he chaired during 2005. Mr. Freeman also is active in the Maryland and District of Columbia legal communities, where he is a member of the Maryland Court of Appeals Character Committee, the DC Bar Foundation’s Advisory Committee and the William B. Bryant American Inn of Court. He is a leader in Columbia University’s alumni community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Columbia College Alumni Association and as chair of the Association’s Washington Steering and Alumni Representative Committees.

At Blank Rome, Mr. Freeman focuses his practice in the areas of civil and commercial litigation in federal and state courts.

Partner Sean P. Beiter Named Council President for the Boy Scouts
Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP, a law firm with offices in Buffalo, Amherst and Rochester, New York and Phoenix, Arizona announces that partner Sean P. Beiter has been elected as the new President of The Greater Niagara Frontier Council, Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors.
Mr. Beiter is a partner and serves as Administrator of the Firm's Labor and Employment practice group. His practice includes the representation of employers in collective bargaining, contract administration and employment discrimination law. He has experience representing employers in both Federal and State Court practice, as well as experience before the National Labor Relations Board, the New York State Public Employment Relations Board, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New York State Human Rights Division, in disciplinary proceedings, and in contract grievance arbitration.

Mr. Beiter was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in 1983 and has served in varied roles from Den Leader to Cubmaster from 1996 to present. He has served as a member of the Council Board of Directors since 2000. In 2005 Mr. Beiter and his wife Angel served as Co-Chairs for the Akela's Anniversary Bash for the 75th Anniversary of Cub Scouting. He holds the District Award of Merit and is a three time chairperson of the Greater Niagara Frontier Council, Boy Scouts of America Scouter Citizen of the Year (SCOTY) golf tournament.

I know what Scouting can do and how important it can be in a young person?s growth and development,? Mr. Beiter reported: ?Personally, Scouting helped me grow as a person, grow in confidence, and grow as a leader.?

I am very excited to be a part of the Four Thousand adult volunteers who are helping build character, citizenship, and a sense of community service in our youth,? Beiter added.

Mr. Beiter was named one of Business First of Buffalo's 40 Under Forty award winners for 2005, and has been voted to Best Lawyers in America for 2007. He is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo Class of 2002 and is a recipient of the District Award of Merit, Boy Scouts of America, Greater Niagara Frontier Council. Hr also serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors at St. Amelia School, Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 202 and as a Coach for the Town of Tonawanda Youth Indoor Soccer League.
