Francis Ford Joins the Firm
Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple is pleased to welcome Francis A. Ford, the former Clerk of Courts and Magistrate for Worcester County, to the firm as a member of its Litigation Department. Fran Ford, who will serve the firm as Of Counsel, has been an integral member of the Massachusetts legal community for 30 years. Mr. Ford's practice focuses in litigation and dispute resolution with a concentration in personal injury law. A seasoned litigator, Mr. Ford successfully mediated dozens of civil matters involving many areas of law over his tenure. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ford was the elected Clerk of the Courts and Magistrate for Worcester County. In his capacity as Clerk of the Courts, Mr. Ford was an active participant in matters of interest to the public with particular emphasis on issues concerning the Administration of Justice. Before his election as Clerk of the Courts in 2002, Mr. Ford was in private practice in Worcester since 1979. From 1975-1979 he served as a Deputy Court Clerk in the Worcester Superior Court. Mr. Ford has been a significant contributor to numerous organizations throughout his career. He is currently the President of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and he was the President of the Worcester County Bar Association from 1996-1997. He has served on numerous charitable organizations and received many awards throughout his career. Mr. Ford remains committed to the community in which he lives and has held numerous public service positions. He served on the Board of Directors for many organizations including the Worcester Public Inebriate Program, the Worcester Opportunities Industrialization Centers and the Diocese of Worcester. He continually donates his time and services to the Town of Paxton through the Paxton Democratic Town Committee, St. Columba Parish, the town's Building Needs Study Committee and, since 1996, as the elected Town Moderator where he presides over the Annual Town Meeting and any Special Town Meetings which may be convened. Additionally, he served as a cabinet member of the United Way of Central Massachusetts, a member of the Holy Cross Club of Worcester and on the Board of Directors of the Worcester Club. Mr. Ford has spoken at many public events including serving as a panelist and moderator of a large number of continuing legal education seminars for the Worcester County and Massachusetts Bar Associations, the Flaschner Judicial Institute and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Ford has appeared as a guest on many television and radio shows covering topics ranging from the Massachusetts legal system to politics. In 2004, he was designated by the John Edwards for President campaign to speak on behalf of Senator Edwards on talk radio and television programs in Central Massachusetts. He has also been the guest host of Worcester County's number one rated talk show, the Jordan Levy Show and he has been the guest host of the Sunday morning talk show, the Legal Express.

David Kurtz Joins the Firm
David Kurtz Joins the Firm Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple is pleased to announce that Mr. David Kurtz, a Shrewsbury resident, has joined the firm to continue developing his practice in labor and employment law. Mr. Kurtz is an attorney with the firm whose practice focuses on labor and employment law, including litigation, arbitration, mediation and counseling companies on all aspects of various day-to day matters, including, hiring/firing decisions, employee handbooks, employee discipline, severance agreements, wage and hour laws and general compliance with federal, state and local employment statutes, regulations and case law. He also counsels clients in connection with claims related to restrictive covenants (including confidentiality agreements, covenant-not-to-compete, non-solicitation agreements) and the misappropriation of trade secrets, corporate property and corporate opportunities. Mr. Kurtz has represented unionized and non-unionized employers ranging from Fortune 50 companies to high-tech start-ups. In addition, Mr. Kurtz has represented executives in employment-related matters. Prior to joining Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple, Mr. Kurtz practiced as a Labor & Employment attorney in the Boston offices of Foley Hoag LLP and Choate Hall & Stewart LLP. Before returning home to Massachusetts, Mr. Kurtz practiced as a Labor & Employment attorney in the New York office of Proskauer Rose LLP.

John W.S. Creedon, Jr. Joins the Firm
John W.S. Creedon, Jr. Joins the Firm Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple is pleased to announce that John Creedon, Jr. has become associated with the firm. John, will be located in the firm's Worcester office and concentrates his practice in all aspects of civil litigation and corporate law. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and is a member of the American, Massachusetts and Worcester Bar Associations. Prior to joining Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple in 2006, John was a law clerk with O Connell, Flaherty & Attmore in Hartford, CT concentrating on litigation, and was also a law clerk for Peters & Sowyrda in Worcester, MA concentrating on real estate law. Additionally, John interned for Magistrate Judge Alan Kay in the United States District Court in Washington, DC, and for the Worcester County District Attorney. John earned his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford, CT where he served as a French interpreter for the Asylum & Human Rights Clinic and as an Associate Editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law. John accepted an invitation to study law at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland during the fall of 2005. Prior to attending law school, John worked at Creedon and Co., Inc., a family-owned business in Worcester, MA. He is a member of the Quinsigamond Rowing Association.

William Gosz Joins the Firm
William Gosz Joins the Firm Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple is pleased to announce that Real Estate lawyer, William J. Gosz, has joined the firm in its Framingham office as an associate. Mr. Gosz' practice focuses on both commercial and residential real estate and corporate work. Mr. Gosz s real estate practice involves all aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions, ranging from development, lending, leasing, condominium projects, acquisitions and sales to representing first time home buyers and sellers of residential property. Mr. Gosz has represented developers, institutional property owners and lenders in the acquisition, disposition and financing of office, industrial, and multi-family properties, and both landlords and tenants in a variety of commercial leasing transactions. Mr. Gosz also counsels businesses in mergers and acquisitions, financing, joint ventures, and other business agreements and contracts. Mr. Gosz serves as counsel for many local businesses and not for profit organizations; continually advising these organizations regarding their formation, reorganizations, general business, transactional, and corporate governance matters.

23 DJP Attorneys Among Utah's "Legal Elite"
Twenty-three DJP attorneys were named as Utah's "Legal Elite" in the January 2007 issue of Utah Business magazine. The list of was compiled from the results of ballots sent to Utah attorneys, asking them who they believed were the most effective lawyers in Utah. Attorneys were encouraged to select nominees based not only on their reputations, but also on firsthand knowledge of their expertise and ability. Utah Business received thousands of responses, from which the 2007 Utah Legal Elite list was compiled.
