Strasburger & Price, LLP applauds partner Robert Hyer Thomas’ receipt of the Dallas Bar Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year Award and of a Texas Bar Foundation’s Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award.

The Dallas Bar Association’s Board of Directors selected Mr. Thomas as the 2007 recipient of the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. The DBA selects the recipient based on lifetime accomplishments as a trial lawyer. This year’s award will be presented to Mr. Thomas at the Dallas Bar Association’s Bench Bar Conference to be held in September.

Mr. Thomas will also receive one of the most prestigious statewide honors awarded to Texas attorneys, an Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award this year. Mr. Thomas will be presented with this distinct honor at a dinner at the Annual Convention of the State Bar of Texas in San Antonio on June 22. Mr. Thomas is one of only five lawyers to be recognized by the Texas Bar Foundation in 2007. This award, established by the Texas Bar Foundation in 1974, recognizes attorneys whose practice spans fifty years or more and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public. Past honorees include Joe Jamail, Louise Raggio, Barefoot Sanders, Justice Jack Hightower, and Strasburger’s own Mark Martin.

“I am extremely grateful to both the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Bar Association to be honored with two awards with such a storied history. He went on to say, “I have been proud to be a part of Strasburger & Price throughout my entire career and have had an outstanding experience practicing law in Dallas.”

Carol Glendenning, who chairs Strasburger & Price, expressed gratitude for Mr. Thomas’ impact on the firm and the legal community as a whole, stating, “The recognition Bob is receiving this year is well-deserved and is an appropriate culmination of a great career. Bob has been and continues to be an important part of our firm, leading by example in his practice of law and active community involvement. Bob’s roles as a lawyer, teacher, volunteer, and leader will be remembered as a significant contribution to the outstanding legal community we have today in Dallas.”

Mr. Thomas spent 31 years as lead counsel representing the Dallas Independent School District in the TASBY federal court school desegregation case before Judge Barefoot Sanders, also a past recipient of an Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award. Mr. Thomas has also practiced in the areas of real estate construction and business litigation as well as real estate and probate and estates. Recognized repeatedly by his peers, Mr. Thomas is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

In addition to his outstanding legal service to his clients and our community, Mr. Thomas has dedicated much of his time to the organized bar. Mr. Thomas served as President of the Dallas Bar Association in 1978, and played an integral role in acquiring and restoring the Belo Mansion as the Dallas Bar Association headquarters.
