Jason Pritchett joins Fennemore Craig
Jason Pritchett has joined Fennemore Craig as an associate in the Business Torts Practice Group.

Prior to being hired as an associate, Pritchett worked as a part-time law clerk at Fennemore Craig. Other experience includes work as an intern at the law firm of Johnson & Lopez in Oklahoma City, and as a law clerk at the Oklahoma County District Court. Pritchett also worked as a grant writer for the Oklahoma City Fire Department.

Pritchett is a December 2006 graduate of Oklahoma City University School of Law. He earned Apr-07 bachelor of science degree in sports medicine and exercise management from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Cozen O'Connor Attorneys Participate in 11th Annual PBI Insurance Institute
Cozen O’Connor attorneys recently participated in the 11th Annual Insurance Institute hosted by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) and held in Philadelphia. Members Steven K. Gerber and Daniel C. Theveny addressed large property loss subrogation in a presentation entitled, “Subrogation 101 – Life of A Subrogation Case;” member Frances R. Roggenbaum lectured on “Privacy and Data Security;” and member Linda Kaiser Conley served as a course planner for the event for the eleventh straight year.

Gerber practices in the firm’s subrogation and recovery department. He devotes his practice to the prosecution of complex large property loss subrogation matters, including actions arising from fires, building collapses, water damage and product failures.

Gerber is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia bar associations, Association of Trial Lawyers of America and National Fire Protection Association. He has been rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system. Gerber is actively involved in the Homeless Advocacy Project (HAP), a legal aid project of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and he serves on the board. He received the 2006 Adopt Coordinators Award from HAP due to his years of service coordinating matters at Cozen O'Connor.

Gerber is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. He regularly serves as an arbitrator in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.

A resident of Villanova, Gerber is a graduate of Trinity College (B.A., 1987) and the College of William and Mary School of Law (J.D., 1992), where he was active in Moot Court and was a member of the Moot Court Board.

A member in the Philadelphia office, Theveny focuses his practice on insurance defense, insurance coverage and insurance subrogation matters. He has experience in all aspects of insurance related issues, including first party insurance coverage disputes and property subrogation matters. He has litigated numerous first-party coverage and subrogation claims, including claims involving complex product liability issues and advanced theories of recovery. Theveny’s extensive litigation experience includes numerous jury trials, mediations and arbitrations. He is also a frequent author and lecturer on insurance-related coverage, liability and recovery issues.

A resident of Media, Theveny also spent a considerable part of his career in Cozen O’Connor’s Northwest Regional Office in Seattle. He served as both the Office Managing Partner and Northwest Region Subrogation Practice Group Chair while in that office. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the ABA Tort and Insurance Practice Section and the Defense Research Institute.

Theveny is a graduate of LaSalle University (B.A., magna cum laude, 1980) and Temple University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1984).

Roggenbaum concentrates her practice on the corporate, transactional, and regulatory aspects of the insurance industry from the firm’s Philadelphia office. She provides regulatory advice to our insurance company clients and assistance to businesses in their self-insurance and risk management strategies. Roggenbaum has extensive experience working on multi-state regulatory issues for insurers, reinsurers, alternative risk entities, insurance producers and other insurance intermediaries, including licensing requirements, coverage mandates and filings, investment limitations, and transactional and financial reporting.

Roggenbaum is a chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU) and certified structured settlement consultant, the past recipient of the national CPCU Harry J. Loman Award for Academic Excellence, and was named a Central Pennsylvania Insurance Person of the Year.

A resident of Mechanicsburg, Roggenbaum is a graduate of Millersville University (B.A., 1973) and Widener University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1993). She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association; the national CPCU Society, where she is a member of its ethics committee; the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the CPCU; and the Federation of Regulatory Counsel.

Kaiser Conley, a member in the Philadelphia office, practices in the insurance corporate and regulatory group. She focuses her practice on insurance regulatory issues and insurance company transactions, following her service as Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner from 1995-1997.

A resident of Philadelphia, Kaiser Conley is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University (B.A., 1978) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1981), where she served as notes editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the Western District of New York.

Dettelbach Appointed to Task Force on Ohio College Campus Safety & Security
Baker Hostetler partner Steven Dettelbach has been appointed by the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents to chair a working group of the newly created Task Force on Ohio College Campus Safety & Security.

The task force, which was formed by Governor Ted Strickland in response to the tragedy at Virginia Tech, is headed by the Chancellor and is comprised of leaders in higher education, government and law enforcement. The charge of the task force is to review the current state of campus safety and security in Ohio and to advise the governor on ways to ensure that all Ohio college campuses are as safe and secure as possible.

Mr. Dettelbach will chair the working group focusing on response, including relationships between law enforcement and campus security, and assistance from state law enforcement agencies. The other task force groups will focus on prevention, communications and resources.

Mr. Dettelbach, who maintains offices in both Cleveland and Washington, D.C., worked in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government over a 15-year span, serving as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and at two U.S. Attorney''s offices. Just prior to joining Baker Hostetler in July 2006, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney on the Organized Crime and Corruption Strike Force in Cleveland.

While working in the United States Senate, Mr. Dettelbach worked extensively on oversight and investigative matters for the Judiciary Committee, both at the public and classified level, including the investigation that followed the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the enactment of the USA PATRIOT Act.

Andrews Kurth Partner Receives Justice David Wellington Chew Award from Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas
Andrews Kurth LLP Partner Kathleen J. Wu will receive the Justice David Wellington Chew Award from the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas. Established in 2002, the Justice Chew Award honors those individuals whose selfless contributions benefit the Asian-Pacific American legal community of Texas.

The award will be presented on Saturday, May 19, during the APIS' 11th Annual Retreat at the Dallas Westin Galleria.

"Kathleen is a role model to me personally and to attorneys throughout the state of Texas," says Patsy Yung, APIS' Chair. "She is a true trailblazer in breaking barriers and in raising the bar for minorities and women in Texas. The Justice Chew Award honors those individuals whose selfless contributions benefit the Asian-Pacific American legal community of Texas. Without a doubt Kathleen has earned this award."

The award is named for Justice David Wellington Chew, Chief Justice of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in El Paso, for his pioneering achievements as one of the earliest Asian Americans in the Texas appellate judiciary. Previous recipients of the award are the Honorable Brenda Rhoades, U.S. Bankruptcy Court (Eastern District of Texas); Daniel David Hu, Deputy Chief, Civil Division, U.S. Attorney's Office (Southern District of Texas); the Honorable Karen Gren Johnson, Judge of the 95th District Court, Dallas County, Texas; and the Honorable Peter Sakai, Judge of the 225th District Court, Bexar County, Texas.

Ms. Wu writes a regular column on issues facing women and minorities in the legal profession for Texas Lawyer newspaper, and she frequently speaks about the benefits of diversity in the workplace. Ms. Wu is recognized as one of the top real estate lawyers in Texas. She is consistently included on the "best lawyers" lists published in D Magazine and Texas Monthly. In addition, Texas Lawyer newspaper named her one of six "Go To" real estate lawyers in the state. She has held several management positions at Andrews Kurth (including Dallas Managing Partner) and for the last six years has served on the firm's Policy Committee.

Ms. Wu said she was honored for the recognition. "It's gratifying to be considered a trailblazer by my colleagues in the Asian-Pacific community," she says. "I hope to continue earning their confidence in me."

Howard Ayers, Andrews Kurth's Managing Partner, called Ms. Wu an inspiration to all attorneys, regardless of ethnicity and gender. "She continues to be a role model for young lawyers," he said. "Her tenacity, intelligence, dedication and courage serve as a template for lawyers everywhere.

Shipman & Goodwin Attorneys Recognized for Pro Bono Work
Thirteen Shipman & Goodwin attorneys were among those named to the Connecticut Bar Association 2006 Pro Bono Honor Roll for providing free legal assistance to low-income persons through an organized pro bono program. Honorees include Lela Ames, Peter Benner, Lori Bloch, Jim Carroll, Carolyn Cavolo, Lee Anne Duval, Eric Goldstein, La Tanya Langley, Jennifer Laurine, Danielle McGrath, Allison McKeen, Carol McVerry and Erik Ness.

Throughout its almost ninety-year history, Shipman & Goodwin has actively promoted pro bono service. Shipman & Goodwin attorneys have represented indigent clients in divorce and custody disputes, housing matters, bankruptcy proceedings, and social security hearings; others have drafted wills and health care advance directives for persons suffering from HIV infection or AIDS; and still others have provided legal services for real estate transactions to charitable organizations. A number of attorneys regularly serve as special public defenders or court-appointed counsel for criminal trials, appeals and habeas corpus actions.

PHILLIPS LYTLE LLP PARTNER DAVID P. FLYNN PRESENTS AT DUPONT LEGAL NETWORK’S ANNUAL MEETING
David P. Flynn, a Partner with Phillips Lytle LLP, a full service law firm with statewide coverage, recently presented at DuPont Legal Network’s 2007 annual meeting held in Wilmington, Delaware. Phillips Lytle is listed as one of Dupont’s forty-two Primary Law Firms. Mr. Flynn spoke on “Managing the Risks of New Technologies,” including how companies explore new horizons and the rise of nanotechnology.

At Phillips Lytle, Mr. Flynn’s practice is concentrated in the areas of environmental law and energy. With respect to environmental law, he concentrates on regulatory compliance consultations and brownfield redevelopment. He regularly speaks on the topic of regulatory impact with respect to nanotechnology. Risto Pribisich Joins the Litigation Department of McDonald Hopkins LLC
Risto Pribisich has joined the law firm of McDonald Hopkins LLC as an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s Litigation Department. Risto focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting utility and design patent applications in the mechanical and electromechanical arts. He is also experienced in patent and trademark litigation, as well as composing non-infringement and patentability opinions. Risto has prepared and maintained patent applications directed to automotive systems, security devices, medical devices, fluid flow devices, RFID technology, and computer hardware.

Mr. Pribisich earned his J.D., magna cum laude, at Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2006. He earned an M.S., in Macromolecular Science and Polymer Engineering in 1994, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 from Case Western Reserve University.
