WFW shortlisted for The Lawyer Awards 2007 - Infrastructure Team of the Year
Farley & Williams LLP (“WFW”) has been shortlisted for the prestigious The Lawyer Awards 2007, Infrastructure Team of the Year for its work on the Teessport GasPortTM Project.

This ‘first in the world’ project involves the importation of natural gas from LNG, which was regasified on board a specially designed vessel in port, before distribution into the UK national grid. It is the first time this technology has been used in the world and is set to transform the LNG marketplace. One ship can provide 3% of the UK’s peak winter gas requirement. The project went from inception to delivery of the first gas within 18 months, with a construction timetable of only seven months - a timescale many said couldn’t be achieved. This required major consultation with the DTI in relation to the applicability of the Gas Act and other legislation.

Anna Soroko, who led the team for WFW, stated: “To undertake a project such as this and to deliver within such a tight time line is unheralded. Whilst many have been involved, given the projects strategic importance to the UK the framework which WFW established will enable this to be replicated in other countries around the world. It is truly a first and we are already working on similar projects across the world. To be recognised by The Lawyer underlines the commitment and quality of work we have brought to this project.
