Ratos finances acquisition of Contex Holding A/S
Mannheimer Swartling has assisted Ratos AB (publ) in connection with the financing of the acquisition of the Danish company Contex Holding A/S, a world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of advanced two- and three-dimensional image solutions.

Zoran Stambolovski was the partner in charge, assisted by Karolina Ericsson. Hampus Tofte at Mannheimer Swartling’s New York office assisted in respect of the US parts and local counsel in Denmark in respect of the Danish parts.

Hypo Real Estate Bank International finances an acquisition of a property portfolio
Mannheimer Swartling has advised Hypo Real Estate Bank International AG in its financing of Carlyle Europe Real Estate Partners' acquisition and subsequent refurbishment of five freehold properties in the Stockholm area (of which properties within the Globen area constitute a part).

Mattias Lampe was the responsible partner and Daniel Karlsson was project manager. Fredrik Bitter, Lukas Dalén and Amanda Rask were also members of the team from Mannheimer Swartling that advised Hypo Real Estate Bank International AG in the financing.

Johnson & Bell, Ltd.

Takash successfully defends client in veterinary malpractice case
Johnson & Bell shareholder, Terry A. Takash, successfully defended client in a veterinary malpractice case. In the case of James Hanson v Donald Dwayne Adams, DVM the plaintiff brought his two cats to Milaknis Animal Hospital for treatment and overnight observation. Both cats died while being monitored. Johnson & Bell’s client was sued for malpractice with the plaintiff contending that the defendant deviated from the standard of care and resulted in a decreased chance of survival for both cats. The plaintiff also argued that because both animals lacked a fair market value, under the law, the plaintiff was entitled to sentimental value for the loss of his pets. Mr. Takash asserted both cats were seriously ill upon presentation and that the defendant complied with the standard of care in his treatment of the cats.

Cooper, White & Cooper LLP partner Peter Califano has been elected President of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum for the 2007-2008 term. The BABF is the local branch of the California Bankruptcy Forum, which is the preeminent statewide organization for bankruptcy judges, lawyers and professionals dedicated to educational development and the advancement of the practice of bankruptcy among its 1500 members.
