Richard H. C. Clay and David T. Schaefer Named Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America
Woodward, Hobson & Fulton, L.L.P. announced this week that Richard H.C. Clay and David T. Schaefer, partners in the Louisville office, have been named Fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America. The Litigation Counsel of America is a trial lawyer honorary society that includes for Fellowship less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Composed of effective and accomplished trial lawyers with exceptional ethical character, the Litigation Counsel of America maintains over 40 committees for purposes of monitoring changes in American and international law that affect trial advocacy and the administration of justice.

Mr. Clay practices in the areas of complex litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, appellate practice and administrative law. He has tried over 75 jury trials in state and federal court. He serves as Kentucky counsel for several major pharmaceutical companies confronting nation-wide claims. He is included in the Best Lawyers in America in “Commercial Litigation” and “Personal Injury and Civil Litigation,” has been inducted as Fellow, International Society of Barristers, and is a member of the firm’s management committee.

Mr. Schaefer is a partner in the firm’s Louisville office, primarily practicing in the area of product liability defense for the firm’s manufacturing clients. He is also involved in the firm’s drug and medical device defense practice, including class actions and mass tort litigation. He has defended many automotive product liability cases including the defense of allegations relating to restraint systems, handling and stability, fuel systems, seats and tires. David currently serves as Chair of the firm’s Product Liability Practice Group and is a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC).

Woodward, Hobson & Fulton, L.L.P. Named in Best Places to Work
Woodward, Hobson & Fulton, L.L.P. announced today that out of 180 companies entered, it has been named 12th among the Best Places to Work in medium–sized businesses in Kentucky. This is the third year in a row the firm has been included in the top 20. The award is based on company policies, practices and demographics as well as employee surveys that gauge their feelings about their workplace.

The Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) State Council, in conjunction with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, announced the winners of this multi-year initiative which is designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure, and move their workplace environments towards excellence. The rankings were announced at a gala awards dinner on April 24, 2007 in Lexington, KY.

“At Woodward, Hobson & Fulton we make every effort to respond to the changing demands on our employees. We have talented and hard-working employees and we recognize that sometimes the other demands in their lives require a little flexibility on our part,” said Donna Perry, Managing Partner. Human Resource Manager, Trasee Whitaker, stated: “We strive to provide excellent benefits and a collegial, entertaining work environment. Two major initiatives rolled out this year: comprehensive changes to our benefits package to offer more plan options with increased pre-tax opportunities, and a wellness program that included activities for all employees. Richard H. C. Clay is Elected as Chair of the J.B. Speed Art Museum
Woodward, Hobson & Fulton, L.L.P. announced today that Richard H. C. Clay, a partner in its Louisville office, has been elected Chair of the Board of Governors of the J. B. Speed Art Museum. Mr. Clay, a former President of the Kentucky Bar Association, practices in the areas of complex litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, appellate practice and administrative law. He is active in civic affairs, and currently serves as a trustee of the Norton Foundation, Inc. and Kentucky Country Day School. He is a former trustee of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation, Inc. and the Southeastern Council of Foundations. He is also a graduate of Leadership Louisville and its Bingham Fellows Program.

Raymond J. Foresman Completes Mediation Training Program
Raymond J. Foresman has recently completed the 40-hour Mediation Training Program sponsored by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Based upon this intense training program and his more than thirty-five years experience as trial lawyer, Mr. Foresman is offering his services as a mediator to litigators across the State.

Ian D. Wright Joins the Firm
Ian D. Wright has joined the Litigation Group of Willingham & Coté, P.C., located in East Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Wright will concentrate his practice in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.

Mr. Wright was born in Lansing, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with distinction, in 1997 from the University of Michigan, and his law degree from Wayne State University Law School (J.D., cum laude) in 2000. Since his admission to the State Bar, Mr. Wright has gained significant trial experience as both an assistant prosecuting attorney and as staff trial counsel for an insurance company. He has litigated cases in circuit courts throughout Michigan, from Lansing to Menominee.

David M. Nelson Joins the Firm
David M. Nelson has accepted a position as an attorney with the Litigation Group of Willingham & Coté, P.C., following a paralegal internship with the medical malpractice defense team at the firm. Mr. Nelson will concentrate his practice in Insurance Defense Litigation.

Mr. Nelson was born in Holt, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2002 and earned his Juris Doctor in 2005 from Syracuse University College of Law (cum laude). He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.

Donna King Perry Woman of Achievement
Woodward, Hobson & Fulton, L.L.P. announced today that its Managing Partner, Donna King Perry, was recognized by the Business and Professional Women of River City as the 2006 Woman of Achievement on Tuesday evening at its annual banquet during National Business Women’s Week. Donna was nominated along with many local business owners, judges, and company executives for this prestigious award, all of whom were also recognized at the event for their accomplishments and leadership in the community.

Donna was elected Managing Partner of the firm in 2003, differentiating Woodward, Hobson & Fulton as the first major firm in Kentucky to have a female Managing Partner. She focuses her practice in the areas of employment and labor law, provides training to management, supervisory and human resources personnel and is a regular speaker at continuing legal education seminars. Her clients include among others Norton Healthcare, the University of Louisville, and the Louisville Water Company. In 2005, Donna was honored with the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award.
