Article: Inside Counsel: George Talarico Comments on Leading Verdicts in 2005 that Reshaped Corporate Defense Strategies
George Talarico was quoted in an article entitled "Lessons Learned: The five verdicts of 2005 that are reshaping corporate defense strategies." Commenting on King v. Bondex International, et al, George said "This is a significant verdict for corporate America. It shows that the outside political pressure of tort reform may in fact have an impact on jury verdicts against corporations.”

James D. Johnson, Cabell D. Townsend and Brian M. Leepson Named Partners with Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP
ATLANTA (Jan. 1, 2006) – Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, welcomes its new partners, James D. Johnson, Cabell D. Townsend and Brian M. Leepson, effective Jan. 1, 2006.
James D. Johnson joined Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, in 1998. He practices primarily in insurance defense with a concentration in general liability litigation and workers’ compensation litigation. Mr. Johnson graduated from Georgia State University College of Law in 1998. He was a member of the Georgia State University Law Review, which published his article on the Americans with Disabilities Act. Prior to law school, Mr. Johnson worked for several years as a vocational rehabilitation consultant in Atlanta. He worked with insurance carriers providing case management services on workers’ compensation and other disability files. Mr. Johnson received a B.A. from Auburn University in 1990. He then went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Services from Auburn University in 1992.
Cabell D. Townsend also joined Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, in 1998. He practices in the workers’ compensation section of the firm and has obtained extensive experience handling workers’ compensation defense and subrogation matters on behalf of employers and insurers. Mr. Townsend has also presented numerous legal seminars to both employers and insurers. Mr. Townsend received his J.D. degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1998. Mr. Townsend received a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991. He is a member of the Atlanta and American Bar Associations and the State Bar of Georgia.
Brian M. Leepson joined Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, in 2000, after gaining experience at other Atlanta firms in a broad range of litigated matters. Mr. Leepson has extensive experience analyzing and litigating both first-party and third-party coverage and bad faith issues under various different types of insurance policies, including commercial general liability policies, employment practices liability policies, excess/umbrella insurance policies, professional liability policies, homeowners policies, and many others. Mr. Leepson has spoken on insurance coverage issues at a number of seminars, most recently giving a talk in August 2005, entitled “Commercial General Liability Coverage Issues in a Construction Defect Claim,” at a seminar sponsored by the Georgia Institute of Continuing Legal Education, for the benefit of attorneys, contractors, engineers, and other professionals in the construction industry. Mr. Leepson received a B.A. in Politics from Brandeis University in 1992. He earned his J.D., with distinction, from Emory University School of Law in 1996. He is admitted to practice in courts throughout the State of Georgia, and has litigated matters throughout the Southeast.

Amy Manzelli and Kevin O'Shea joined the firm as associates in September of 2005. Ms. Manzelli and Mr. O'Shea were both summer associates with the firm in 2004. Ms. Manzelli received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Vermont Law School in 2005; Mr. O'Shea from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in 2005 with honors. Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. Announces New Members
Mr. Bilbe joined Stone Pigman in 1999 and concentrates his practice in intellectual property law and commercial litigation. He is a member of the International Trademark Association and the Young Leadership Council. Mr. Bilbe received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1997, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Virginia Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1993. Mr. Bilbe is admitted to practice law in Louisiana and Massachusetts.

Ms. Plunkett joined Stone Pigman in 2002 and is a Board Certified Tax Law Specialist. She is the author of "Gifts of Appreciated Property and the Assignment of Income Doctrine," which appeared in the March/April 2000 edition of Journal of Taxation of Exempt Organizations. Ms. Plunkett chairs the New Orleans Area Technical Meetings for the Tax Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association. She serves on the National Association of Estate Planning Council's 2006 Conference Committee. She is the Treasurer of Symphony Volunteers, Inc. Ms. Plunkett is a member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council, the New Orleans Bar Association Tax Committee, the Greater New Orleans Foundation Honor Roll of Advisors and the Tulane Estate Planning Institute Advisory Board. She earned an advanced legal degree in Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1999. In 1997, she graduated with distinction from the Emory University School of Law. Ms. Plunkett received her undergraduate degree from Emory University in 1993, where she double-majored in Philosophy and Political Science. She is admitted to practice law in Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama and Virginia.
