Houston Bar Foundation Recognizes Howrey As Mid-Size Firm of the Year Notes Firm’s Contribution to the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program
Houston, TX, Jan. 19, 2006 - Howrey LLP has received the Houston Bar Foundation’s 2005 Award for Outstanding Mid-Size Firm for its contributions to the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program (HVLP). This is the second consecutive year that the firm’s Houston office has received this prestigious award.

Howrey attorneys provided full representation in 18 HVLP cases in 2005 with nearly half of the office’s attorneys contributing pro bono hours to the program. This donated time represents a Howrey contribution of hundreds of thousands of dollars in pro bono value devoted to this organization and the broader Houston community.

And for the third consecutive year, Howrey provided HVLP with a much-needed extern in the summer of 2005 through its Howrey Externs for Legal Pro Bono Service Program (HELPS). This Howrey program subsidizes summer jobs for first-year law students interested in careers in public interest law.

In addition to these valuable contributions, Howrey attorneys also assisted HVLP with its on-going Hurricane Disaster Relief Program by staffing legal clinics and providing counsel to dislocated hurricane victims in the Houston area.

“I am so proud of my colleagues,” said Houston Managing Partner, Tom Miller, “as they have repeatedly answered the call from HVLP to provide legal assistance for the people of Houston. Especially after the hurricanes, Howrey attorneys and staff alike donated time, expertise, money and goods to help.”

Howrey received the award at the Houston Bar Foundation’s annual luncheon.
