HDBDK Makes New Law that may Limit Class Action Abuse in Texas
Dallas partners Jeffrey J. Cox and David Stone, who successfully obtained the dismissal of a statewide seatbelt class action for clients Takata and Isuzu, recently learned that the plaintiffs have chosen not to appeal further. As a result, the opinion upholding the dismissal by the Fort Worth Court of Appeals and published at 178 S.W.3d 844 will stand. HDBDK’s work in obtaining this ruling will make it very difficult for plaintiffs to file class actions in Texas against product manufacturers unless they have suffered a real and manifest injury.
