\"Let’s Be Reasonable Instead of Greedy\"
Litigation co-chairman Jeffrey Kessler was mentioned in an article regarding the ongoing negotiations to extend the collective bargaining agreement between the National Football League and the National Football League Players Association as the attorney for the latter. The article described Mr. Kessler as "one of the most prominent sports lawyers in the nation" having "litigated the landmark antitrust trial, McNeil v. NFL, which helped lead to the establishment of free agency.

\"Maryland Firm’s Deal With Israelis Analyzed\"
International Trade Partner Harry Clark was quoted in an article regarding an investigation into the sale of a Columbia software firm to a company from Israel. The Federal Bureau of Investigations opposes the sale of Sourcefire to Israeli-based Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. for $225 because the agency fears that would give away the keys to the governments most sensitive computer networks. Mr. Clark, who has handled Committee on Foreign Investment cases in the United States commented that "the Check Point transaction is really more of a classic instance in which the government would take a hard look.

\"Emerson Not at British Columbia’s Service\"
International Trade of counsel John Ragosta was quoted in an article regarding International Trade Minister David Emerson’s shelving of a deal to end the ongoing softwood-lumber dispute between the United States and Canada, which was ready for signing just before the federal election in Canada was called. Mr. Ragosta commented "Were there negotiations going on this fall and were they close to an agreement? Yes, absolutely.

Leading Hospitality Industry Attorney Andrew S. Robins Joins Proskauer Rose\'s Boca Raton Office
Former Head of Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart's Real Estate and Leisure & Resorts Practices Continues Growth of Proskauer's Florida Presence

March 2, 2006 - (Boca Raton, FL) - Proskauer Rose LLP, an international law firm with more than 700 lawyers in the United States and Europe, announced that Andrew S. Robins, one of the nation's leading hotel, resort and condominium lawyers, has joined the firm's Real Estate and Lodging & Gaming practice groups as a partner. Coming with Mr. Robins are Susan K. Robin and Michelle Oms, who join as senior counsel, and two associates. They will be based in the firm's Boca Raton office.

The addition of Mr. Robins' practice to Proskauer is the latest move in the continued expansion of the firm's Boca Raton office. In October, prominent estate and tax planning attorney David Pratt joined the firm as partner, along with senior counsel Elaine Bucher and a number of associates.

Mr. Robins has extensive experience in finance and development in the real estate and hospitality industries in the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America and is one of the nation's foremost experts in the areas of hotels, condominiums, mixed-use developments, timeshares, fractional interests, and destination clubs. He has worked with hotel operators, franchisors and developers in real estate, community development, and complex resort and mixed-use development matters, helping them to maintain brand standards, balance and reconcile the interests of multiple stakeholders, and comply with applicable securities laws. He has represented InterContinental, Hyatt, Hilton, Sonesta, Rosewood, Wyndham, Carlson, Kimpton, Morgans Hotel Group, Donald Trump, RAL, AIG, WCI Communities, The Blackstone Group and The Patrinely Group.

Prior to joining Proskauer Rose, Mr. Robins was a partner at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale, where he chaired the firm's Real Estate Department and its Leisure and Resorts Group. His prior experience includes work in the office of the General Counsel of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development of the City of New York. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and a founding member of the Center for Caribbean and Latin American Development. A graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton, Mr. Robins earned a law degree from Syracuse University School of Law.

Ms. Robin practices in the areas of real estate, hotel and resort law and commercial leasing. She is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Law and the University of Colorado. Both were formerly at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart. Ms. Oms practices in the areas of hotel, resort and mixed-use development, residential and hotel ownership, and hotel operations. She is a graduate of American University, Washington College of Law, and the University of Miami, where she received a Master's of Law Degree in Real Property Development, and Catholic University of America.

Orrick\'s John Knox Named a California \"Attorney of the Year\"
John Knox, an Orrick public finance partner in San Francisco, was named an ""Attorney of the Year"" by California Lawyer magazine. Knox is featured in the March 2006 issue of the magazine. He was cited for a $450 million bond to help local governments throughout California pay for basic operating costs, including police and fire-fighting services.

The novel financing project involved the securitization of vehicle license fees receivables -- more than $450 million that was due to local government jurisdictions but had been used by the state when it was hit by a fiscal crisis in 2003. In the California Lawyer article, James Hamill, program manager for the California Statewide Communities Development Authority, said, ""John Knox got it all to work magically. We couldn't have done it without him.""

Said the article: ""Knox says the technique . . . is another step in expanding the use of securitization for local governments. He is working on similar financing strategies for funding schools and other state-mandated local services.
