Leading Data Security Attorney, William J. Cook, Rejoins Wildman Harrold
Wildman Harrold is pleased to announce that William J. Cook, a distinguished attorney in the area of security and data privacy, has returned to his position as partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Department following a brief time at the Chicago office of Foley and Lardner.

Cook's practice focuses on security and data privacy counseling and litigation, particularly in areas associated with credit card payment processing. He regularly counsels clients on issues related to internal corporate investigations involving industrial espionage, computer intrusions, corporate security audits, credit card fraud, competitive intelligence matters as well as the liability exposures created by the security aspects of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, HIPAA and other federal and international security standards.

Cook served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Chicago from 1975 to 1991. During his tenure he held several key posts, including Chief of the Computer Crime Task Force and Regional Coordinator of Counter-Espionage and Counter-Terrorist Investigations. He is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army Rangers with numerous commendations.

Cook holds a J.D. from Creighton University Law School and a B.A. from Creighton University.

Wildman Harrold Appoints Audrey H. Rubin as COO
Wildman Harrold announces it has appointed Audrey H. Rubin, Esq. as the firm's Chief Operating Office. She will direct and oversee the firm's financial, marketing, strategic, and tactical operations. Rubin will be involved in policy-making at the Executive Committee level, will direct all firm operations, and will be responsible for implementing the firm's business plans.

Rubin's career spans 27 years and she has worked both as an attorney in private practice and in several executive management positions. Prior to joining Wildman Harrold, Ms. Rubin served as COO for the Chicago law firm of Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd LLP. Previously, she worked as an Officer and General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for two international companies — Apollo Travel Services and the accounting firm of Grant Thornton — and has been a board member of several domestic and international corporations.

Rubin is a frequent national speaker and author on law firm management, the relationship between law firms and their clients, and related topics. She was founder and Chair of the Illinois Task Force on Gender Bias in the Courts and has served as a member of the Board of Managers of the Chicago Bar Association.

Rubin has served as a Board member of the Association of Yale Alumni. She is also on the National Board of the Sapphire Society, and was the first recipient of the Jewish National Fund ""Woman of Valor"" award. She holds a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, from Yale University.

David L. Burg Joins Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, the national law and consulting firm, announced today that David L. Burg, a well-known and highly regarded litigator and trial lawyer, has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner. Mr. Burg was previously a partner with Weissmann Wolff Bergman Coleman Grodin & Evall LLP.

Mr. Burg handles a wide range of business cases, with emphasis on entertainment and real estate matters. His expertise includes complex entertainment disputes involving copyrights, trademarks, accounting, licensing, idea submission, and rights of privacy and publicity; real estate matters concerning acquisitions, partnerships, easements, entitlements, and construction defects; employment cases; and the full gamut of contract, tort, equitable, and statutory claims, including trials, arbitrations, appeals, writs, injunctions, motion practice, discovery, insurance matters and settlement.

Mr. Burg received his B.A. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1980, where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received his J.D. in 1987 from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was a member of the California Law Review. Mr. Burg is a member of the California Bar, and also is admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Northern, and Eastern Districts of California and the District of Arizona.
