Longstreet Recognized by \"Best Lawyers in America\"
Ami S. Longstreet, a Fayetteville resident and partner at Mackenzie Hughes LLP, was recently honored as one of the preeminent lawyers in elder law in Central New York by the newest edition of the book, “The Best Lawyers in America.”

Longstreet specializes in helping clients understand estate and trust planning and administration, as well as elder law. With over 20 years of practicing law, her specialties include asset protection, Medicaid planning, and planning for individuals with disabilities.

Helmer Recognized by \"Best Lawyers in America\"
Stephen T. Helmer, a resident of Manlius and partner at Mackenzie Hughes LLP, was recently recognized as one of the preeminent product liability litigation lawyers in the region by the latest edition of the book, “The Best Lawyers in America.”

As chair of the litigation department at Mackenzie Hughes, Helmer brings 24 years of litigation expertise to the firm. He counsels various clients on education, general business, commercial and management issues, and has litigated appeals at every level in New York, including the Court of Appeals—New York’s highest court. Helmer’s practice areas include commercial disputes, personal injury, product liability, medical malpractice and insurance coverage.

Helmer is a member of the Onondaga, New York State and American Bar Associations, and the prestigious International Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. Locke Reynolds Partner Elected Vice President of the Peoples Burn Foundation
Susan E. Cline was recently elected Vice President of the Peoples Burn Foundation. Ms. Cline will serve a one-year term.

The mission of The Peoples Burn Foundation, founded in 1997, is to serve communities with innovative and compelling education to prevent life-altering burn injuries, and empowers burn survivors to take control of and improve the quality of their lives.

Ms. Cline practices in healthcare and medical malpractice. She has represented physicians, dentists, nurses, nurse practitioners, clinics, home health agencies, hospitals and nursing homes in the defense of medical negligence claims. Ms. Cline has also has tried medical negligence cases before various state courts in Indiana and before the United States District Court.

The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. has announced the addition of Robert W. Irish to its Corporate Practice Group in the firm’s Shanghai, China office. His practice is focused on business law, secured lending and commercial transactions, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, customs and international trade. Stevens & Lee\'s James W. Saxton Resumes National Speaking Schedule With Presentation at Minimally Invasive Surgery Symposium
LANCASTER, PA, March 29, 2006 – James W. Saxton, Chair of Stevens & Lee’s Health Care Litigation Group and Co-Chair of the Health Care Group, opened his 2006 national speaking schedule with presentations at:

The Sixth Annual Minimally Invasive Surgery Symposium held February 20-25 in Vail, CO.

The Pennsylvania Oncology Hematology Managers’ Society (POHMS) Spring Conference held March 2-3 in Atlanta, GA

Mr. Saxton served as a moderator for The Minimally Invasive Surgery Symposium’s “Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence: Making the Grade” program. As part of the roundtable discussion, “Center of Excellence as a Risk Management Tool,” he talked about NOVUS Insurance Company, a risk retention group for bariatric and general surgeons nationwide. Mr. Saxton helped to create NOVUS and its state-of-the-art loss control tools that are specially designed to reduce professional liability exposure for bariatric and general surgeons.

In his presentation to POHMS, “Developing a Loss Control Culture: Reducing Liability Exposure and Enhancing Your Practice,” Mr. Saxton explained how to minimize professional liability risks through the implementation of newly developed risk management techniques designed to reduce liability while increasing patient satisfaction.

ABOUT JAMES W. SAXTON
Mr. Saxton lectures frequently and is an invited speaker across the country on health care issues, including liability reduction and risk management. In 2005, he presented to nationally prominent health care organizations such as the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the American Brachytherapy Society and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Mr. Saxton is an active trial lawyer – a practice he has sustained for over 25 years – representing providers, including hospitals, physicians and retirement communities, in state and federal court and administrative proceedings. His practice includes litigation, licensing and medical staff issues. He uses his extensive experience as a litigator to advise hospitals, medical groups and retirement communities throughout the United States in connection with understanding and reducing their professional liability risk.
