Carlton Fields Hosts Florida Association of Women Lawyers Reception During Lobby Days in Tallahassee
Carlton Fields hosted a reception for the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL) in the Tallahassee office on March 13, 2006 in conjunction with FAWL's Lobby Days.

Among the guests at this reception were Senator J. Alex Villalobos, Senator Paula Dockery, Senator Evelyn Lynn, Senator Nancy Argenziano, and the President of The Florida Bar, Alan Bookman. In addition, other attendees included The Honorable Peggy Quince, Justice, Supreme Court of Florida; Paul Hill, General Counsel, The Florida Bar; The Honorable Kevin Davey, Circuit Court Judge; The Honorable Judith Hawkins, County Court Judge; and FAWL President June McKinney Bartelle. Senator Villalobos accepted an award from FAWL during the reception for his support of judicial independence and the ratification of the ERA.

Carlton Fields Miami Shareholder, Amy E. Furness, is a member of the Board of Directors and is the Treasurer-Elect of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers. She practices commercial litigation and product liability, which includes extra contractual litigation, insurance bad faith litigation, civil RICO, toxic torts, and environmental law. Furness received her B.S. from Drexel University in 1998 and her J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1991.

Carlton Fields Tallahassee Shareholder, Kelly Cruz-Brown, is the Chair of the Carlton Fields Women's Initiatives Committee and helped host the reception. Cruz-Brown practices primarily in the areas of insurance regulation and administrative law. She represents individuals, insurers, and other entities regulated under Florida's Insurance Code before the Florida Department of Financial Services and Office of Insurance Regulation concerning form and rate filings, acquisitions, issuance of licenses/certificate of authority, market conduct and solvency examinations/investigations, market withdrawal or exits from the State of Florida, disciplinary matters, and challenges to agency administrative rules. Cruz-Brown received her B.S. from Florida State University, with honors, in 1989 and her J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law in 1992.
