Ruskin Moscou Faltischek Names Jeffrey M. Schlossberg, Esq. Chair of Employment Law Practice Group
Uniondale, Long Island, New York, March 30, 2006 – Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. announced today that, effective April 1, 2006, Jeffrey Schlossberg, Of Counsel to the firm and a member of the firm’s Litigation Department, will assume chairmanship of the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. He succeeds Douglas J. Good, who is co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Department and who is now preparing to assume the presidency of the Nassau County Bar Association in June 2006.

“I am delighted by this appointment,” said Schlossberg. “Employment law issues profoundly affect every business, without exception. I plan to build on the stewardship of my predecessor, Douglas Good, who worked tirelessly to establish this dynamic practice group.”

Schlossberg has considerable experience with employment-related legal issues and has handled all manner of cases pertaining to the employer-employee relationship. He has defended against claims of sexual harassment, as well as age, race, national origin and disability discrimination suits. He has represented the full range of companies, including a major national media company, a supplier of military and commercial aircraft components, a worldwide insurance company, a leading manufacturer of food handling equipment, a top Long Island software company, and many other employers of varying size throughout the metropolitan area and across the country.

The department offers the full range of employment law legal services, including employment discrimination prevention and litigation; sexual harassment policy development and compliance; employee policy manuals; independent contractor analysis; family and medical leave; Americans With Disabilities Act matters; wage and hour investigations; non-competition agreements; and corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Schlossberg has led a variety of training programs on issues such as workplace harassment and wage and hour law. In addition, he lectures frequently about various topics to trade and professional associations. From 1990-1996, Schlossberg was an Adjunct Professor at Iona College and College of New Rochelle Graduate Schools. He also serves as an Instructor for the Hofstra University School of Law Appellate Advocacy Program and in January 2004 was appointed as an Adjunct Professor to that institution.

Burden Chairs National Trucking Conference
Donna L. Burden, head of the Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. Trucking Law Practice Group, was Program Chair of the Defense Research Institute's Trucking Law Committee Conference in Chicago entitled ""Big Wheels Keep on Rollin': Confronting New Challenges Posed by Technology and Defending Trucking Clients"". This year's conference had over 600 trucking industry in-house counsel, risk loss managers, insurance claims managers, adjusters, lawyers and third-party administrators in attendance.

The conference addressed:
Insights into the needs and risks facing small and large trucking companies.
How to prepare a corporate representative of a trucking company for a critical disposition.
Current driver training techniques and how to use them to combat corporate liability.
Techniques to utilize biomechanical evidence to defend soft tissue injury cases.
How insurers and trucking companies are responding to new developments in the trucking insurance market.
How to respond to the expanding area of broker liability.

Garan Lucow Miller Law Firm Announces New Hire To Expand Estate Planning Practice
Garan Lucow Miller, with offices throughout Michigan, announces it is expanding its areas of practice with the hiring of attorney Thomas A. Doyle. He will operate out of the firm’s Lansing office, and serve as the director of the Estate Planning and Settlement Group.
Mr. Doyle is an estate planning and settlement attorney who focuses on the legal, practical and tax issues that must be considered when creating an effective estate plan. He is the author of an informational video, “How to Avoid the Six Most Common Estate Planning Mistakes,” and has been featured in newspapers and television as an expert on estate planning and probate issues. Mr. Mileski is a business practice attorney focusing on transactional issues, intellectual property, contract drafting, purchase and supply agreements and finance and banking issues. His expertise is serving the legal needs of small and medium-sized closely held business entities. Previously, he was with Law Weathers and Richardson, P.C. in Grand Rapids.
