Seven Weil Gotshal Washington DC Lawyers Listed in The Best Lawyers In America 2007
The Best Lawyers in America recently completed its poll of the Washington DC area legal community and released the list of lawyers who will be included in the 2007 edition of the referral guide. Seven lawyers from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP’s Washington DC office were selected for inclusion in the publication.

The Best Lawyers lists are compiled through an exhaustive peer-review survey in which top lawyers in the US confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The 2007 edition is based on more than 1.8 million of these confidential evaluations.

The Washington Post Magazine will publish the list of Best Lawyers from the Washington DC area on October 1, 2006 and the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America will be available in the fall of 2006. Seyfarth Shaw Welcomes Sang-yul Lee as Partner to Labor and Employment Practice
Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full service law firms, today announced that Sang-yul Lee has joined the firm as partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group. He is resident in the firm’s Chicago office. Previously, Lee was a senior associate at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary.

Lee advises on all aspects of labor and employment law and human rights issues. He has extensive experience representing clients in equal employment opportunity litigation, collective bargaining, organizing campaigns, strikes, arbitrations, layoffs and closures, wage and hour audits and class actions. He has appeared before federal and state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, as well as state human rights agencies in matters arising under a wide range of federal and state labor laws. His corporate experience includes representing employers in employment, separation, change-in-control, independent contractor and restrictive covenant agreements. He has served as primary labor counsel in numerous M&A transactions. Before joining his first law firm, Lee spent several years as a trial attorney for the NLRB.

Lee received his B.A., with honors, from Northwestern University. He earned a joint J.D. and A.M. in Labor and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois, College of Law and Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations at Urbana-Champaign, respectively. In law school he co-founded and was president of the Asian American Law Students Association. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and is a member of the labor and employment sections of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is an Attorney Member of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission’s Hearing Board which hears disbarment and discipline cases. Additionally, he is a member of the Korean American Bar Association, the Japan America Societies of Chicago and Western Michigan, the board of directors of the University of Illinois Labor Institute, and he recently served on the alumni advisory board of the University of Illinois College of Law. He also serves on the board of directors for Korean American Community Services of Chicago and the Korean American Scholarship Foundation. Lee is fluent in Korean. He is also a contributing editor to the ABA/BNA treatise The Developing Labor Law. Lee also regularly speaks about labor and employment issues at conferences and industry trade shows.

Schnader Welcomes Two New Attorneys
Robert M. Greenawalt has joined the Litigation Services Department and will be resident in the New York Office. Mr. Greenawalt has a range of general commercial litigation experience, and his particular areas of practice include intellectual property litigation and internal investigations. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Columbia University – a B.A. in political science in 1998, and a J.D. in 2002. Fluent in Croatian and with a working knowledge of Spanish, Mr. Greenawalt practiced with the firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where he summered in 2001 and where he had been an associate since September 2002.

Jon Hughes joins the Business Services Department and will be resident in the Pittsburgh Office. Mr. Hughes was most recently with Willig, Williams & Davidson in Philadelphia, where he concentrated his practice in the employee benefits area. He was previously with Pepper Hamilton LLP's Philadelphia office, in the corporate and securities department, and its Berwin office, in the employee benefits department. He began his career after receiving his LL.M in Taxation with Fineman & Bach, P.C. as a corporate and tax associate. Mr. Hughes has both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Pittsburgh (B.A. in history, 1995 and J.D., 1998), and an LL.M in taxation from New York University School of Law (1999).

Pitney Hardin\'s Mandel to Teach Appellate Advocacy at Rutgers - Newark
Pitney Hardin associate Jeffrey S. Mandel, whom appears regularly as a guest legal commentator on Court TV, CNN, Cablevision, and FOX NEWS Channel, has accepted a teaching position at Rutgers Law School - Newark. Mr. Mandel will teach Appellate Advocacy, which he has previously taught at Seton Hall School of Law.

Mr. Mandel’s appellate experience includes a clerkship with the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, membership on the New Jersey State Bar Association Appellate Practice Committee, membership on the Defense Research Institute Appellate Advocacy Committee, and several oral arguments before the Supreme Court of New Jersey including a high-profile death penalty appeal case.

Mr. Mandel currently serves as designated counsel for cases assigned by the Appellate Section of the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender and has served as amicus curiae on behalf of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of NJ on multiple occasions. He has authored several articles on appellate practice and he is the author of Gann Law Book’s “New Jersey Appellate Practice,” to be published this year.

Joanne B. She is fluent in Arabic.

She resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
