Former Assistant. U.S. Attorney Robert E. Goldman Joins Fox Rothschild LLP
Mark L. Silow announces that Robert E. Goldman, Esq., a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, has joined the Bucks County office of Fox Rothschild LLPas a Partner in the firm's Litigation Department and a member of the White-Collar Criminal Defense Group
With more than 28 years of trial experience, Goldman has an extensive background in courtroom litigation. In addition to his white-collar crime practice, Goldman specializes in art, antiquities, and collections law, representing individuals, institutions and countries in matters relating to art and cultural property.

“To this point in his career, Bob has served the public trust by being an absolute force in Berks and Bucks Counties when it came to fighting political corruption and frauds against the public,” said Susan J. Smith, Office Managing Partner of Fox Rothschild’s Bucks County office. “We’re honored that Bob’s second career will be with Fox Rothschild.”

Prior to joining Fox Rothschild, Goldman served, since 1987, as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia and Allentown, Pa. In the Allentown office, which Goldman supervised, he prosecuted in Berks, Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks Counties. His experience in the U.S. Attorney’s Office included investigation and prosecution of a wide-range of criminal activity, such as white-collar crime, political corruption, international art theft, museum theft, and illegal gambling operations. Goldman’s most significant case while at the U.S. Attorney’s Office concerned a Lancaster, Pa.-based defense firm involved in a one billion dollar fraud that resulted in the collapse of Great Britain’s third largest defense contractor. Prior to 1987, he was a trial attorney in the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

While working with the FBI, Goldman was involved in the recovery of more than $150 million worth of stolen art and cultural property. In 2005, Goldman was appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice as a Special Trial Attorney to serve as national prosecutor with the newly created FBI National Art Crime Team to prosecute international art theft, antiquities smuggling, and fraud in the art and collecting industry. He has also trained law enforcement agents in the United States, Russia, Belgium, and Peru on criminal law, investigations, and prosecutions.

“Bob’s extensive trial experience and specialty in arts law further expands the portfolio of services we can provide our current and prospective clients,” said Smith. “Bob will have one of the most unique practices in the region – white collar litigation and art crime.”

A recipient of many prestigious honors, Goldman most recently received the 2006 Smithsonian Burke Award for excellence in cultural property protection.

Goldman earned his J.D. in 1977 from Villanova University School of Law and his B.A. in 1974 from the University of Virginia. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida.
