Founded in 1941, the ADTA is a non-profit professional association established to advance the principles of courtroom fairness, justice and fellowship. Its more than 700 members are each uniquely qualified to defend their clients in our nation's courtrooms. ADTA invites only one defense trial attorney to be its prime member per one million in population for each city, town, or municipality across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. An ADTA prime membership is, in essence a statement of the high regard in which that defense trial attorney is held by his or her peers in the defense trial bar of their city and state or province. Louis M. Solomon, a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP and co-chair of the firm's Litigation Department, will receive the 2006 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for his article ""Under Comity's Banner,"" which appeared in the December 5, 2005 edition of The National Law Journal. The annual awards honor 30 of the nation's finest legal writers and are selected from multiple submissions from the top 1000 law firms in the country.

This year's recipients will be honored at a June 12 dinner in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. George F. Will, a political correspondent for ABC, creator of the television show ""This Week,"" and a syndicated columnist, will be the guest speaker.

""We are proud to congratulate Lou for this prestigious award. He is a super litigator and an equally accomplished writer. This honor is much deserved,"" said Allen I. Fagin, Chairman of Proskauer Rose.

Mr. Solomon's award-winning article delves into the issue of international comity and addresses how courts in different judicial regimes treat decisions of foreign tribunals when fundamental rights of citizens are impacted. A veteran trial lawyer, Mr. Solomon has tried more than 50 complex commercial cases in federal and state courts nationwide, in federal and state regulatory tribunals, and in national and international arbitrations and litigations.

Established by William C. Burton, the Burton Awards are dedicated to the refinement and enrichment of legal writing. Now in their seventh year, the awards are given in association with the Library of Congress Law Library and are sponsored primarily by LexisNexis. The entries are judged by an academic board led by Chairperson Virginia Wise, a renowned professor at Harvard Law School, Vice Chairperson Anne E. Kringel, an expert in legal writing at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Grace Tonner, a prominent professor from the University of Michigan Law School, Ed Forstenzer, a distinguished judge from California's Superior Court, and William Ryan, a former chair of the White House Committee on Plain Language and a current member of the Department of Homeland Security.

This is the second year in a row a Proskauer attorney has received the Burton Award. In 2005, Christopher Wolf, partner in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and chair of its Privacy and Data Security Law Practice Group, received the award for his article ""Regulating Hate Speech Qua Speech Is Not The Solution To The Epidemic of Hate On The Internet,"" which appeared in Metropolitan Corporate Counsel.
