Sidley Austin Ranked #1 in 2006 BTI Client Relationship Scorecard
Sidley Austin LLP has been ranked as the number one law firm in the 2006 BTI Power Rankings: The BTI Client Relationship Scorecard. Sidley is one of 21 firms named to The BTI Power Elite, and one of only 14 firms that has ranked in The BTI Power Elite for two years in a row. Sidley was also ranked by The BTI Consulting Group, a management consulting and research firm, as the number one law firm for overall client service in 2004 and 2002.

According to BTI, “Sidley leapfrogs last year’s top performer, earning a score nearly 15% higher than the next closest competitor and winning the number one spot. Sidley, which is only one of two firms in the BTI Client Service Hall of Fame, draws strength from their exceptional client service performance to secure a broad and well-placed market position.”

In addition to receiving the most client recommendations, Sidley was acknowledged by our clients for “growing prominence in the global arena and continued excellence with high-tech and pharmaceutical clients.”

“Responsiveness to our clients is critical to Sidley,” said Thomas A. Cole, a Sidley corporate partner and chairman of the firm’s executive committee. “We strive to understand their business and legal needs. We are gratified that our clients feel we deserve this recognition.”

In October, Sidley was named to the BTI Client Service Hall of Fame as one of only two firms honored for ranking in the Top 10 for five consecutive years for delivering superior client service. In January, partners Paul V. Gerlach and Paul E. Kalb were named in BTI’s 2006 Client Service All-Star Team – a select group of lawyers who have been recognized by their clients for providing “superior client service.”

The BTI rankings are based on interviews with 376 corporate counsel at large and Fortune 1000 organizations, who discussed how they see their law firms across the 6 critical dimensions that define client relationships: primary relationships, short lists, bet-the-company law firms, exceeding expectations, client recommendations and client satisfaction.

Boston-based BTI Consulting Group regularly canvases leading companies on how they acquire and manage professional services, including outside legal services. BTI maintains what may be the largest database on service provider satisfaction and issues findings derived from extensive interviews.

Sidley Austin LLP is one of the world's largest full-service law firms, with more than 1,600 lawyers practicing in 15 U.S. and international cities including Beijing, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. Sidley received the 2005 Catalyst Award in recognition of the firm's initiative to recruit, retain and advance diverse talent.
