He will assume the role of chairman at the conclusion of current Chairman and Edgardo Colon's term.

Gonzalez, a corporate and securities attorney who also focuses his practice on Latin America business matters, will support Colon during an exciting time for Hispanic-owned businesses. “The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is an active and effective chamber,” said Gonzalez. “We are a promoter of Hispanic business growth and a clearinghouse of ideas and services to help companies throughout Texas and the nation take advantage of that growth.”

Nationally, there are nearly 1.6 million Hispanic-owned businesses, still a small percentage of the 23 million businesses in the country.

At Bracewell & Giuliani, Gonzalez practices general corporate law with an emphasis in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate control matters, securities, private company business issues and international practice issues.

He advises clients on their corporate, partnership or other limited liability structure and operation issues as well as general business matters for seasoned corporate clients in both the domestic and international context.
