Ashurst advised Advanced Power Components Plc on its £2 million acquisition of Hero Limited.
Hero Limited is a commercial electronic component distributor with four main markets: integrated circuits, crystals, electronics and sensors, and LEDs and displays.

The Ashurst corporate team was led by corporate partner Steven Fox and comprised corporate solicitors Jonathan Earle and Louise Batty. Also advising were tax solicitors Caroline Fitzgerald and Alastair Ladkin, real estate solicitor Paul Squire, and environment solicitor Joanna Ketteley.

Laytons (Cameron Sunter) advised Hero Limited.

Ashurst advised Hoare Govett Limited on a £22.9 million placing by Carter & Carter Group plc
Ashurst advised Hoare Govett Limited in its capacity as broker and underwriter to a placing of new shares by Carter & Carter Group plc (CCG).

The placing raised approximately £22.9 million and will part-fund CCG's acquisition of Retail Motor Industry Training Limited.

The Ashurst team was led by corporate partner Nick Bryans, assisted by solicitor Justin Atkinson and trainee solicitor Julia Derrick.

DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary (Andrew Holt) advised Carter & Carter Group.

Matthew Hansberry Joins Steptoe & Johnson PLLC
Matt Hansberry has joined the Labor Department of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, practicing in the firm’s Clarksburg office as an associate. Hansberry will focus his practice on labor and employment law. He earned his legal education from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a member of the school’s Moot Court National Team.

Templeton Joins Growing Winston-Salem Practice
Franklin Scott Templeton, a veteran business and regulatory attorney, has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in its recently expanded Winston-Salem office to practice in the health care and business law areas.

“We are pleased to welcome Scott to our growing firm,” said Managing Partner Denise Gunter. “We recently added 2,700 square feet to our office in anticipation of future growth, and Scott will help us grow the Firm’s presence in Winston-Salem.”

Mr. Templeton has an extensive business regulatory background. He served for seven years as North Carolina Deputy Secretary of State and for several years as legal counsel to the North Carolina Department of Labor. He has practiced with the North Carolina Department of Justice, as well as with private law firms in Raleigh and Winston-Salem. Mr. Templeton was also a law clerk to former Associate Justice Burley B. Mitchell Jr. at the Supreme Court of North Carolina.

He is a member of the Business Law Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association and a former member of the Government & Public Sector Section Council. He has co-chaired the North Carolina Advisory Council on Electronic Notary Standards and has participated as a barrister of the Chief Justice Joseph Branch Inn of the American Inns of Court.

Mr. Templeton earned a Juris Doctor in 1989 from the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he served on the editorial staff of the Wake Forest Law Review. He also received the Robert F. Goldberg Award in Trial Advocacy and for two years was on the Wake Forest National Trial Team, winning the 1989 regional championship. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Certificate in Strategic Leadership for State Executives from the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University.
