10 Weber Gallagher Attorneys Named \'Super Lawyers\'
Thomas E. Butler, Jr., Joseph Goldberg, Warren L. Simpson, Jr., Patrick J. Stapleton III, Peter J. Weber, Andrew K. Worek and Marc B. Zingarini, partners in the Philadelphia office of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby LLP, William M. Conwell, partner in the firm’s Pittsburgh office, Carl J. Smith, Jr., partner in the firm's Washington office, and Richard S. Ranieri, partner in the firm's Newark office, have been named among the top lawyers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey by the publisher of Law & Politics magazine.

The attorneys have been honored for their accomplishments, along with other selectees, in the June 2006 issue of Philadelphia magazine, the May 2006 issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine, and the Pennsylvania and New Jersey editions of Super Lawyers, which is published by Law & Politics magazine. The selection process began with nominations by their peers and was followed by data verification and independent research into the qualifications of each nominee. A blue-ribbon panel of attorneys from more than 60 practice areas then reviewed and rated the nominees. The list of “Super Lawyers” includes the top five percent of attorneys in private practice, as well as attorneys in government and corporate practice, such as prosecutors, in-house counsel and public service lawyers. Simpson, Stapleton and Zingarini were named in the “Personal Injury Defense:General” category; Conwell, Smith and Weber were named in the “Workers’ Compensation” practice area; Goldberg and Ranieri were named in the ""Civil Litigation Defense"" category; Butler was named in the ""Business Litigation"" practice area; and Worek was named in the ""Professional Liability:Defense"" category. In addition, Weber was named as one of the Top 100 'Super Lawyers' in Pennsylvania and in Philadelphia.

HILL WALLACK PARTNER RE-APPOINTED TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Kenneth E. Meiser, a partner of Hill Wallack, Attorneys at Law, recently served as a panelist at the 2nd Annual Conference on Land Use Law sponsored by CLE International. Mr. Meiser gave a presentation on Third Round COAH Regulations which focused on growth share and its implication.

Known for his role in several precedent-setting legal decisions, Mr. Meiser is a partner in the Land Use Division which includes the firm’s Land Use Litigation, Land Use Applications and Environmental Law Practice Groups. He has a practice concentration in the areas of land use applications and litigation.

A graduate of Xavier University, Meiser earned his law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School. He has taught courses in land use regulation as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Law School. A frequent public speaker, Meiser has made presentations to the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the National Business Institute and numerous other organizations in New Jersey. He serves on the New Jersey Builders Association’s Legal Action Committee and is a member and former chair, of the Board of Directors of the Land Use Section of the New Jersey Builders Association. A resident of East Brunswick, New Jersey, he has been named as a 2006 New Jersey Super Lawyers by Law & Politics and the publishers of New Jersey Monthly.

Eric J. Belfi Joins Labaton Sucharow & Rudoff LLP as Partner
Labaton Sucharow & Rudoff LLP, one of the country’s premier national law firms representing institutional investors in class actions, and complex securities cases, announced today that Eric J. Belfi has joined the firm as Partner.


As a former prosecutor for the New York State Attorney General’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office for the County of Westchester, Eric brings to the firm a wealth of courtroom experience battling corporate fraud. Twenty-Eight Eckert Seamans Attorneys Name Pennsylvania Super Lawers
The national law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today announced that 28 of its attorneys have been named Pennsylvania Super Lawyers for 2006 by Philadelphia Magazine and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine. Last year, 23 attorneys from the firm were recognized for the honor, which is determined by surveying over 36,000 Pennsylvania attorneys as part of a peer selection process.

According to Law & Politics, the organization which publishes Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine, five percent of Pennsylvania attorneys are included in the “Super Lawyers” directory, which is broadly distributed in the legal and business communities.

“To become a ‘super lawyer,’ attorneys must provide strong legal counsel while at the same time provide unmatched client service,” said Tim Ryan, Eckert Seamans’ Chief Executive Officer. “They must also be significant contributors to their firms. We are proud that so many of our members were recognized for their many years of dedication to the profession, to their clients and to this firm.”

In Pittsburgh, 17 attorneys were named to the list: Scott D. Cessar, Stuart R. Kaplan, William B. Mallin, C. Kent May, John J. McCague, John R. McGinley, John F. Meck, Louis J. Moraytis, John J. The basis for selection to the list included noteworthy verdicts or settlements; creativity or innovation within the legal process; the number of cases tried or transactions handled; years in practice; position within the firm; professional activities; writings and lectures; community involvement and volunteer work; professional degrees or training; and academic background, including honors and clerkships.
