Chambers USA Rankings Highlight Haynes and Boone Practice Areas
Haynes and Boone LLP announced Friday that the firm’s Antitrust Practice Group has risen in the latest Chambers USA rankings to sit among the top antitrust law firms in the country. The latest survey also ranks the firm’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization, Insurance and Real Estate Practice Groups in the ranking’s first tier of law firms.

Haynes and Boone, with more than 450 attorneys in ten offices worldwide, had two lawyers – bankruptcy attorney Robert Albergotti and environmental attorney Jeff Civins -- achieve a “Star Performer” ranking by Chambers in the 2006 survey. The “Star Performer” is the highest possible ranking by Chambers USA in their survey of the nation’s law firms.

Eight Haynes and Boone attorneys were also included in the first tier of attorneys in the annual rankings: Michael Boone (Corporate), John Eldridge (Environmental), Noel Hensley (Securities Litigation), Ernest Martin (Insurance), Barry McNeil (antitrust), Robin Phelan (Bankruptcy and Reorganization), Charles Powell (Technology, Corporate) and Robert Wilson (Real Estate).

Other attorneys highlighted in the 2006 Chambers USA rankings include: Charlie Beckham (Bankruptcy), Jim Braddock (Environmental), Nina Cortell (Appellate), Lynne Liberato (Appellate), David McCombs (Intellectual Property), Ann Saegert (Real Estate) and Alison Smith (Antitrust). Attorneys Jeffrey Becker (Intellectual Property), Ronald Breaux (Antitrust), Richard Fijolek (Tax, Business and Estate Planning), Steve Jenkins (Real Estate), Bruce Merwin (Real Estate, Construction), Werner Powers (Insurance) and Donald Templin (Intellectual Property).

The firm was also recognized for Environmental, Intellectual Property, Technology and IT Outsourcing, Banking & Finance, Corporate/M&A, Employment, Healthcare and general commercial litigation.

Attorneys Mary Mendoza, Walter Miller and Laura O’Donnell were named as “Up and Coming” attorney in the 2006 rankings.

GCD Partner Anita Ponder to Receive “Woman of the Year” Award
Anita Ponder, a partner in the Chicago office of Gardner
Carton & Douglas LLP, will receive the “Woman of the Year” award from the Coalition for
United Community Action at the Coalition’s 34th Annual Unity Testimonial Awards Banquet June
16 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. The 37-year-old nonprofit Coalition is celebrating its
progress in building bridges among labor, business, government and the community, including
developing successful training programs to help unemployed and underemployed minorities and
females in the construction industry. The event’s honorary chairmen include Governor Rod
Blagojevich, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, Jr.
and Mayor Richard M. Daley.
Ms. Ponder focuses her legal practice on government contract and procurement law,
administrative law, government relations, public finance and commercial transactions. She
assists small- and mid-sized entrepreneurs and major corporations in navigating and complying
with government regulations, bidding policies and contract requirements. She also helps clients
address legislation affecting their business activities.
An active participant in community, civic and political organizations, Ms. Ponder serves
as a director of Windows of Opportunity, a nonprofit affiliate of the Chicago Housing Authority
