Five Attorneys Recognized on National 500 Rising Stars List
Five Bingham McCutchen attorneys made the “Lawdragon 500, New Stars, New Worlds” list, which recognizes 500 leading up-and-coming attorneys in the country as well as seasoned attorneys who have excelled in creating new practice areas. Boston partner Daniel Savrin, New York partners Michael Mavrides and Christine White, San Francisco partner Geoff Howard, and Los Angeles partner Sandra Lee Montgomery were each recognized on the list for their achievements.

Silfen and Dowd Named Co-chairs of Bankruptcy Practice at Arent Fox
Andrew Silfen and Mary Jo Dowd have been named co-chairs of the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Group at Arent Fox.

Silfen, who works in the firm’s New York office, has extensive experience in all aspects of financial restructuring and bankruptcy issues. His practice encompasses representing creditors committees, indenture trustees, noteholders, bondholders, lenders and secured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, as well as acquirors of and investors in troubled, distressed and bankrupt companies.

Dowd, who works in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, specializes in representing debtors, creditors, indenture trustees and committees in bankruptcy court cases, as well as borrowers and lenders in out of court debt restructures and structured finance transactions. She has particular expertise in bankruptcy cases involving real estate, intellectual property, construction, manufacturing, airline and retail.

Arent Fox D.C. Real Estate Practice Achieves Tier 1 Ranking by Chambers USA Guide
Arent Fox has a Tier 1 real estate practice in Washington, D.C., and a Tier 2 national political law practice, according to the 2006 edition of the Chambers USA guide. Six other practice areas were ranked in the third and fourth tiers in either Washington or New York.

In addition, the Chambers USA guide rated 12 Arent Fox lawyers as high ranking in their respective practice areas, highlighted two lawyers as “Up and Coming” and designated two lawyers as “Senior Statesmen.” The number of Arent Fox attorneys honored in the 2006 guide nearly tripled last year’s total—from six to 16.

HILL WALLACK ADDS REAL ESTATE PARTNER
The law firm of Hill Wallack, Attorneys at Law, has added a new partner to its Princeton Office.

Shilpa M. Upadhye, has joined the firm as partner in its Real Estate Division including the Banking & Secured Transactions and Commerical Real Estate Practice Groups. Ms. Upadhye concentrates her practice in all aspects of commercial real estate acquisition and development, with particular emphasis on complex negotiations, banking and secured transactions, including: acquisition finance, construction financing and refinancing, loan modification, restructuring and loan documentation.

Ellis & Winters named among \'Leading Lawyers for Business\'
The 2006 edition of Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business lauds Ellis & Winters LLP as one of the top five law firms in North Carolina in the area of antitrust litigation and as one of the top 15 law firms in North Carolina in the area of general commercial litigation. Former Allegheny County Solicitor and Municipal Finance Attorney Charles McCullough Joins Eckert Seamans
The national law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today announced that former Allegheny County Solicitor Charles P. McCullough has joined the firm in Pittsburgh as a Member. Mr. McCullough’s municipal experience further strengthens the firm’s Public Finance Department. His experience includes work with governmental agencies and authorities in arranging public financing and serving as bond and underwriters counsel.

Mr. McCullough has extensive experience in municipal finance, which includes his tenure as the Allegheny County Solicitor from 2002 to 2004; the Township Attorney for the Township of Upper St. Clair from 1998 to present; and as the Homestead Borough Solicitor from 1984 to 1990.

Mr. McCullough was involved in the formation of the Steel Valley Authority and the Mariana Borough-West Bethlehem nship Joint Sewage Authority, drafting the intergovernmental resolutions that formed them. He has served as bond counsel for the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, the Commonwealth Financing Authority, the South Park Municipal Authority (Conemaugh Health System), the Monroeville Water Authority, the Municipal Authority of the Township of Upper St. Clair and the Township of Upper St. Clair. He served as underwriter’s counsel for bond issues by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the Allegheny County Redevelopment Authority, the Allegheny County Residential Finance Authority and the Allegheny County Higher Education Building Authority. As the Allegheny County Solicitor, Mr. McCullough represented the County in connection with various bond issues.

“Chuck brings extensive experience to an already great group of municipal finance attorneys,” said Tim Ryan, Eckert Seamans’ Chief Executive Officer. “Our Public Finance Department is one of the pillars of our firm, which we believe has become that much stronger with Chuck on board.”

Mr. McCullough graduated magna cum laude and with honors from the Universityof Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1977, where he was also Phi Beta Kappa and a Rhodes Scholar candidate. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Law in 1980 and was a member of its Law Review. He graduated summa cum laude with an M.B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business in 1988.

Mr. McCullough is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and is listed in the Bond Buyer’s Index (formerly the Red Book). He is also a member of the Municipal Law Sections of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Eckert Seamans, Mr. McCullough was a shareholder of the Pittsburgh law firm Tucker Arensberg, P.C.
