Washington Lawyers Committee Honors Goodwin Procter with Pro Bono Award
Goodwin Procter LLP, one of the nation’s leading law firms with offices in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, DC, today announced that it will receive the Washington Lawyers Committee Award. The firm will be honored at an award luncheon on Tuesday, June 13.

The Washington Lawyers Committee Award recognizes the firm for its successful pro bono representation of a Congolese citizen of Congolese/Rwandan ethnicity and her application for asylum. The client left the Congo in 2004 and asked for asylum in the United States because, due to regional ethnic clashes, she and other Congolese citizens of Rwandan heritage had been tortured and imprisoned in the Congo.

Goodwin Procter has a well-developed pro bono program which, in fiscal year 2005, provided more than 47,700 hours of pro bono legal assistance to charitable organizations and individuals who could not otherwise afford legal assistance.

GCD Lawyers, Practices Receive High Marks from Chambers USA
Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP is pleased to announce
that nine of its practice leaders and six practice areas have received outstanding reviews in the
newly released Chambers USA 2006 Directory. Among firms with Illinois-based practices, GCD

noted for its Health Care practice, as it has been for the last several years; Washington partner
T.J. Sullivan, named among “Leaders in their Field” in Healthcare, is given the prestigious #1
ranking by Chambers.
The directory notes that clients of GCD’s Health Care Group say they have ""absolute
faith and confidence in the group's integrity and ability"" and choose GCD to act on matters
ranging from compensation and benefits to corporate compliance and litigation. TJ Sullivan
wins praise for his tax-related work for nonprofit health organizations such as hospitals and
HMOs.
Chicago health care partner Ed Bryant, recognized by the publication as a “Star

market on technology work related to the health care industry.
Harold Kaplan, named among “Leaders in their Field” in Bankruptcy/Restructuring, is
the “sharpest mind in the business,” Chambers quotes clients as saying, while the directory calls
GCD’s Bankruptcy/Restructuring practice focusing on creditors’ rights “notable.”
Chambers’ sources recognize that GCD’s Corporate/M&A and Private Equity practice
is ""involved in meaningful corporate transactions"" locally, nationally and on a global scale. The
publication notes that David Kay, Chair of the Corporate Department, is also a qualified
Chicago Washington, D.C. New York City Milwaukee Albany

conducting international arbitrations.
GCD’s Richard Kissel, named among “Leaders in their Field” in Environment law,
