Four Companies Name Nelson Mullins ‘Go-To’ Firm
Four of the nation’s largest companies named Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as their Go-To Law Firm in a survey conducted by ALM, the nation’s leading legal journalism and information company. The Directory of Go-To Law Firms at Top U.S. Companies was released earlier this year, but appeared for the first time in Fortune magazine in its May 15, 2006, edition.

BellSouth Corp. named Nelson Mullins the Go-To Law Firm for government relations, while Wyeth, Georgia-Pacific and Whirlpool Corp. named the Firm for litigation.

“We are honored to have been recognized by four of our clients as their choice among law firms,” said Nelson Mullins Managing Partner David Dukes. “To be listed among some of the most elite law firms in the nation is a testament to the respect Nelson Mullins attorneys have earned over the years.”

ALM surveyed general counsel at each of the 500 largest U.S. companies to determine their primary outside law firm in six practice areas. Most chose firms based on their all-star track records. Many selected firms that handled most of their caseload in the previous year, according to ALM. No law firm paid to be included, the media organization said.

More than two-thirds of the companies responded. The resulting list includes 533 U.S. law firms and 114 overseas firms.

Nelson Mullins, established in 1897, has more than 360 attorneys practicing from offices in Atlanta, Boston, Charleston, Charlotte, Columbia, Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Raleigh, Washington and Winston-Salem.
