Gibson Dunn Achieves 22 Highest Tier Rankings; 76 Lawyers Ranked in 2006 Chambers & Partners USA: America\'s Leading Business Lawyers
In Chambers USA 2006, an independent, research-based survey, Gibson Dunn achieved 22 first tier rankings. Seven of the 22 top tier rankings were achieved by the firm in Antitrust, Banking and Finance, Corporate/M&A and General Commercial Litigation in California; and Corporate/M&A, Employment and Appellate in DC. Fifteen first-tier rankings were achieved by individual lawyers in their respective practice areas: Howard Adler, Glenn Beaton, Andrew Bogen, Robert Cooper, Miguel Estrada, Stephen Glover, Thomas Holliday, William Kilberg, Brian Lane, John Olson, Theodore Olson, Eugene Scalia, Jesse Sharf, Gary Spratling and Joseph West. Overall, 76 Gibson Dunn lawyers were named among the leading lawyers in 44 practice areas.

Gibson Dunn Adds Two Land Use Attorneys in San Francisco
Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce the addition of two land use lawyers to its real estate practice. The attorneys, Neil Sekhri and James Abrams, have joined the firm's San Francisco office from Farella, Braun + Martel. Their addition follows the recent arrival of Mary Murphy, a leading land use attorney who joined Gibson Dunn last month.

Sekhri, who joins the firm as of counsel, has more than 19 years of experience handling real estate, land use and municipal law matters. He advises on public and private partnerships, ground leasing, development agreements, land use and entitlements, CEQA, public trust, historic preservation, acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing for landlords and tenants and public agency rules and procedures. Before his tenure at Farella Braun, he was a San Francisco Deputy City Attorney, where he served as senior real estate counsel for the Port of San Francisco. He has worked on many waterfront projects for the City of San Francisco, including the historic rehabilitation of the Ferry Building, Pier 1, Mission Bay and the James R. Herman International Cruise Terminal Project at Piers 30-32. He received his law degree in 1987 from University of California at Davis, where he served as editor of Law Review.

Also joining the firm as an associate is Abrams, who practices real estate and land use law. He is a 2005 graduate of Stanford Law School, where he was articles editor for Stanford Environmental Law Journal. He received a Master of City Planning from MIT in 2002.

Duane Morris Partner Jonathan Swichar Appointed to Board of Gaudenzia
Gaudenzia, Inc., a provider of substance abuse rehabilitation services, has named Duane Morris partner Jonathan Swichar to its Board of Directors. For several years, Jonathan, a member of the firm's Trial Practice Group in its Philadelphia office, has served on Gaudenzia's Development Committee and Greater Philadelphia Community Affairs Council.

Gaudenzia, founded in 1968, provides a wide range of services at numerous facilities across the country. The organization aims to help people affected by chemical dependency, mental illness and related conditions to achieve a better and more productive quality of life. Among Gaudenzia's founders is Michael Baylson, a former Duane Morris partner and current U.S. District Court judge. Jonathan joins other regional business and community leaders on the board.

An experienced litigator, Jonathan practices in the areas of complex commercial disputes, securities law, white-collar criminal defense and investigations, insurance defense and healthcare fraud defense. A member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American bar associations, he is also active in community organizations.

Prior to earning his J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law in 1997, Jonathan graduated with a B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1994.

Briggs Attorney Named “Up & Coming”
Minnesota Lawyer names Elizabeth M.
Brama of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association, as one of 15 “Up & Coming Attorneys
of 2006.”
Selected from a pool of nominations submitted by members of the legal community with criteria
based on distinguishable accomplishments, leadership, excellence with in-house services, service
to the profession and/or community work, Brama is a successful and respected business litigator
with special interest in election law. She has been involved in labor and employment litigation,
complex commercial litigation, appellate practice, trademark infringement and environmental

works in the Minneapolis office.

San Antonio Bar Association Honors Bracewell & Giuliani Attorney
At the organization’s annual Law Day Luncheon, the San Antonio Bar Association honored Bracewell & Giuliani LLP attorney Stan Pietrusiak for his dedication to the Fox Tech High School Law Magnet Annual Essay Competition. He was honored on May 5.

Currently in its fifth year, the law competition inspires students to develop their legal research and writing skills, and to reward those contestants whose submissions are clearly superior by providing cash prizes to the top three contestants in each grade level.

Pietrusiak, who selects the essay topic, prepares the research materials, grades the essays and announces the contest winners, has served as the moderator of the program since its inception in 2002. Bracewell underwrites a portion of the annual event.

“Stan’s dedication to the children of San Antonio has always been paramount. It is a joy to see him honored in this fashion for a program he is so committed to,” said J. Barbara D. Linney Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Barbara D. Linney has been presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT). Ms. Linney was recognized for her significant impact on the Association and as a role model for others in the field of international trade.

The WIIT Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to those long term WIIT members whose spirit and demonstrated commitment to the Association throughout their career has improved the organization and inspired others. Ms. Linney was honored for her extensive service in numerous volunteer positions since the early 1990s, including President (1994/95), member of the Board of Directors (1994/96), co-chair of numerous committees, panelist and moderator at various conferences, participation in the WIIT Charitable Trust’s trade education project, and pro bono general counsel since 1999.

In presenting the Award, outgoing WIIT President Angela Marshall Hofmann stated that Ms. Linney “provides our voice of reason and legal clarity and serves as a valuable source of institutional knowledge. I know for me and so many others, she has been an excellent role-model and mentor.” Ms. Hoffman also acknowledged Ms. Linney’s assistance in securing Blank Rome’s support for many WIIT initiatives and events.

Ms. Linney is a Partner in Blank Rome’s International Trade group, focusing her practice on international trade and transactions. She regularly advises both U.S. and foreign clients regarding U.S. export controls and international economic sanctions, defense trade and security regulations, and other international trade and business issues, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-boycott issues. Ms. Linney represents clients before various federal agencies, including the Departments of State, Defense, and Commerce, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. Typical representations include licensing matters, voluntary disclosures, assisting members of the Firm’s white collar defense practice group with investigations involving alleged export violations, conducting due diligence and obtaining regulatory approvals in connection with corporate transactions, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments affecting international business, and designing and implementing trade and security compliance programs. Ms. Linney is also a frequent author and speaker on international trade and business issues.

Upon receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ms. Linney stated, “It has been a privilege to serve with the many talented and capable women who have played a vital role in the leadership and success of WIIT. My participation in this organization has been both personally and professionally rewarding, and I would strongly encourage women at all levels of careers in international trade to become active members.”

Ms. Linney received her Masters degree in International Law from the Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Laws degree, with distinction, from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. Ms. Linney also holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with honors, from the University of Manitoba. In addition to her volunteer efforts on behalf of WIIT (www.wiit.org), Ms. Linney serves as pro bono general counsel to Women in Federal Law Enforcement, Inc. (www.wifle.org) and is a director and Vice President of the Alberta Ballet Foundation (www.albertaballet.com).
