Shepard M. Remis Honored by Visiting Nurse Association
Goodwin Procter LLP is pleased to announce that Shepard M. Remis has recently received two honors for his volunteer commitment to the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston (VNAB).

Remis received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the VNAB at its 120th anniversary celebration that took place in Boston this spring. Remis has volunteered with the organization for more than three decades and has served as its Board Chair since 1982.

In addition, Remis was named Volunteer of the Year – Agency Board Member by the Visiting Nurse Association of America (VNAA) at its recent annual meeting in Orlando, Fla. The VNAA is the national umbrella organization of more than 400 independent home healthcare agencies throughout the United States. The award is presented to a board member who best exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism, and willingness to “go the extra mile.” Remis was recognized for having “led VNAB through two decades of growth, change and challenge.”

Remis is a partner in Goodwin Procter’s Litigation Department in Boston and has practiced extensively in the areas of intellectual property litigation, products liability and mass torts litigation, and complex commercial litigation.

The VNAB is a non-profit home healthcare agency, committed to providing care that will maximize health, independence and quality of life regardless of illness, income or insurance in the communities in which it operates.

Baron & Budd, P.C. Attorney Wesley Young to Speak on New Grievance Procedures at Texas State Bar Annual Meeting
Wesley Young, an attorney with the law firm of Baron & Budd, P.C., will speak today at the Texas State Bar Annual Meeting, held today and tomorrow in Austin.

Young will speak on the topic of “The New Grievance Procedures and Tips to Avoiding and Responding to a Grievance.” His presentation is part of a joint section Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program hosted in part by the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas. Young is immediate past chair of the section as well as current panel chair of the Texas State Bar Grievance Committee.

Young is an attorney serving in the asbestos litigation practice at Baron & Budd, P.C., representing victims of asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma.

Hogan & Hartson Ranks No. 1 in Washington, D.C., and No. 4 in Denver in Corporate Board Member/FTI Annual Legal Survey
For the second consecutive year, Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. has received the highest ranking in Washington, D.C., and was among the top five firms in Denver in Corporate Board Member magazine’s annual list of the best corporate law firms in America. The rankings, published in the magazine’s “Winners in 25 Metro Areas” report, were determined by corporate directors working in Washington, D.C. and Denver.

In addition, Hogan & Hartson was ranked No. 16 by corporate general counsel as a firm that they would want to represent their companies on national matters.

Corporate Board Member and FTI Consulting, a provider of consulting and technology services to major corporations, financial institutions and law firms, surveyed more than 1,390 directors and 279 general counsel serving publicly traded companies listed with the NASDAQ, New York, or American Stock Exchanges. Results of the survey were published in the July/August 2006 issue of the magazine.

Jackson Lewis Announces New Leadership Structure
Jackson Lewis LLP today implemented a new leadership structure intended to position the nationwide employment and labor law firm to meet the changing needs of its clients even more effectively. As part of this evolution, three of Jackson Lewis' most senior partners will take on new roles: William Krupman will become Chairman Emeritus; Patrick L. Vaccaro will become Managing Partner; and Vincent Cino will become National Litigation Coordinator.

Mr. Krupman has served as Managing Partner since 1975. Under his guidance, Jackson Lewis evolved from a small, traditional labor firm to a nationwide leader and pace-setter in workplace law, with 385 attorneys in 25 offices from Miami to Seattle. As Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Krupman will continue to be actively involved in the firm's business development and strategic growth efforts.

Mr. Vaccaro, formerly Vice Chair and Managing Partner of the firm's White Plains, NY office, has been with Jackson Lewis for 40 years. In his new role as Managing Partner he will be responsible for the entire firm's day-to-day administration and management.

Mr. Cino, one of the firm's most senior litigators and trial lawyers and the current Litigation Manager in the Morristown office, will assume the role of the firm's National Litigation Coordinator. In this role, he will be responsible for coordinating the more than 1,000 litigation matters the firm handles each year, including complex nationwide class action cases.

Jackson Lewis consistently receives outstanding recognition by peers and clients alike. Mr. Vaccaro, a member of the New York Bar, received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law and has a Masters Degree in Labor Law from the New York University Graduate School of Law. He has served as Chairman of the Jackson Lewis Marketing Department and is a member of the firm's Management, Compensation and Associate Bonus Committees. He was listed by Corporate Counsel magazine in their Best Employment Lawyers section. For the past 10 consecutive years, he has been among several Jackson Lewis attorneys named as the Best Labor & Employment Law Lawyers in America in the publication of the same name.

Mr. Cino received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and a Masters Degree in American Government from Rutgers University. He is a member of both the New York and New Jersey Bars. For the past two years, Mr. Cino was chosen by his peers as ""Super Lawyer"" by New Jersey Monthly magazine and was also cited in The New York Times as one of the Ten Leaders of Employment Law in New Jersey, 2004-2005. During a career spanning more than 25 years, Mr. Cino has personally tried more than 120 cases, including cases tried during his tenure as Chief of Litigation for the Essex County Counsel's Office, N.J., and as Assistant Prosecutor for Union County, N.J.

Trusts and Estates Lawyer Patrick J. Lannon Rejoins White & Case
White & Case today announced that Patrick J. Lannon is rejoining the Firm as counsel in its Private Clients practice in Miami.

Lannon focuses on trusts and estates law and is board certified by the Florida Bar in Wills, Trusts & Estates. His practice principally involves advising individuals and families worldwide in all aspects of domestic and international estate planning. He also focuses his practice on estate administration, trust administration, asset protection planning, and will and trust related litigation support.

Kennedy Covington Attorney Honored With Leadership Position for National Committee
Kennedy Covington, one of the largest law firms in the Carolinas, is pleased to announce the appointment of special counsel Jo Ann J. Brighton to a leadership position within the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI).

Brighton will co-chair the Business Reorganization Committee, the ABI's largest subcommittee which has more than 2400 members. Her responsibilities will include organizing educational panels at ABI conferences and planning and leading the meetings of the Committee twice a year. She will participate in the strategic developments of the Committee and provide oversight and direction for the Committee's newsletter which is issued monthly.

A frequent author on bankruptcy related topics, Brighton has been featured in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law, Journal of Bank Accounting & Auditing , Commercial Law Journal, Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice, North Carolina Banking Institute Law Review and many others. She is also a frequent speaker at national conferences on bankruptcy law concentrating on such topics as secured lenders' rights, lender liability and second lien financing.

Brighton is a contributing editor and member of the editorial board for the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal ; serves on the advisory board of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review; and is certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. She is also listed in Who's Who of American Lawyers.
