ABA Trade Remedy Book Co-Edited by PoGo Partner Peggy Clarke to be Published This Month
Powell Goldstein International Trade partner Peggy Clarke edited and authored a chapter for the book, Trade Remedies for Global Companies, published this month by the American Bar Association (ABA). The book, a part of the ABA's International Practitioners Deskbook Series, explains the most common forms of U.S. and foreign trade remedy laws and serves as a guide for corporate counsel and other non-experts involved in trade investigations. Ms. Clarke co-authored the introductory chapter, An Overview of Trade Remedy Law, that explains the various trade remedy laws, including the key provisions and the basic timing of such a proceeding. The chapter also provides contact information for the relevant government agencies and describes the factors companies should consider in determining whether to participate in trade remedy proceedings.

Ms. Clarke was one of three editors for the book which was a collaborative effort by the ABA Section on International Law. Trade law experts, including attorneys who work primarily with the U.S. and foreign governments and responding companies, contributed to that effort.

Chapter reprints are available by request from Powell Goldstein LLP. The book is available through the ABA website at www.ababooks.org under the """"New Releases"""" tab. For more information, please contact Peggy Clarke at 202.624.3923 or pclarke@pogolaw.com.

Talmage Boston Receives Second Consecutive State Bar of Texas Presidential Citation Award
Talmage Boston, a shareholder with Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C., was honored by State Bar of Texas President Eduardo Rodriguez as a recipient of a Presidential Citation Award, presented at the State Bar of Texas (SBOT)’s Annual Meeting on June 15, 2006, in Austin.

Presidential Citations are awarded by the SBOT President each year in recognition of individuals who have assisted, developed or improved services in the past year to the SBOT and lawyers in Texas in a significant way. Boston was recognized for his leadership role in planning the major programs at the 2006 SBOT Annual Meeting, highlighted by his coordination of the meeting's keynote event for the fourth consecutive year—the annual debate on the hottest topic in the law. This year the topic was ""Judicial Activism: Whose Ox Gets Gored?"", featuring nationally renowned speakers on both sides of the issue.

Named as a ""Texas Super Lawyer"" by Texas Monthly magazine in 2003, 2004, and 2005, Boston is a highly-respected attorney with extensive experience in representing business clients in commercial litigation, arbitration, and appeals. In his 28 years of law practice, he has tried jury cases and argued appeals all over Texas in both state and federal courts. He is one of less than 100 lawyers board certified in both Civil Trial Law and Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is a frequent speaker on a wide variety of litigation and arbitration topics for the SBOT at its seminars.

Among his many professional activities, Boston served as the 2003-2004 Chairman of the SBOT Litigation Section, and as the 2004-2005 Chairman of the SBOT Council of Chairs, for which he received a Presidential Citation in 2005. He also has served as past Chairperson of the Dallas Bar Association's Business Litigation Section.

Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C. is among the largest business law firms in Texas. Wiley Rein & Fielding is the proud recipient of the Sodexho Law Department’s Commitment to Diversity Award, presented in recognition of the firm's participation in the department's minority student job shadowing program. The award was given at a reception preceding the 7th Annual Sodexho Foundation Dinner, an event marking the culmination of Sodexho’s year of activities related to ending hunger in America.
