Sidley Austin LLP Named One of Top 20 National Law Firms in Corporate Board Member Annual Survey
In its sixth annual Legal Industry Research Study, Corporate Board Member magazine ranked Sidley Austin LLP as one of the top 20 national corporate law firms, as ranked by corporate directors and general counsel, and the number one corporate law firm in Chicago, as ranked by Chicago-based directors.

The annual study, sponsored by FTI, a Baltimore-based consulting firm, consists of 3 individual surveys and identifies the top 20 national corporate law firms and the top five corporate law firms in 25 major metropolitan areas, according to CEOs, directors and general counsel serving on boards of publicly traded companies listed with the Nasdaq Stock Market, New York Stock Exchange or American Stock Exchange.

In the Corporate Board Member study of the best corporate law firms in the U.S., based on surveys of 1,390 corporate directors, Sidley made the biggest climb up the list, moving up five spots from number 19 to number 14. In a related Corporate Board Member survey of 279 general counsel, Sidley ranked number 12 out of 20 national firms. Sidley was one of seventeen law firms to make both lists.

In the third survey of the top local corporate law firms, directors living and working in the Chicago metropolitan area named Sidley the best corporate law firm in Chicago.

According to William S. Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member, “Law firms especially value our rankings because they come not from their peers – other lawyers – but from the corporate officers, directors and in-house attorneys who hire law firms and pay their bills.”

Sidley Austin LLP is one of the world's largest full-service law firms, with more than 1,600 lawyers practicing in 15 U.S. and international cities including Beijing, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. Sidley was named the Number One-Ranked U.S. Law Firm for Overall Client Service in 2002 and 2004 in surveys of Fortune 1000 executives by BTI, a Boston-based consulting and research firm. In 2005, BTI named Sidley to their Client Service Hall of Fame as one of only two law firms to rank in the Client Service Top 10 for five years in a row. Sidley received the 2005 Catalyst Award in recognition of the firm's initiative to recruit, retain and advance diverse talent.
