Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Participates in KidStart Program to Mentor Chicago Youth
Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country, recently participated in Mayor Richard M. Daley's KidStart program, which provides summer employment and job training to young residents of Chicago.

Cindy Pavinato, Director of Human Resources at Brinks, and Kimberly Franker, Human Resources Generalist at the firm, presented a “Money Management” workshop to more than 100 students who participated in the “Job Readiness and Training Session” which was held on June 20, 2006. The workshop included tips on understanding paychecks, where to cash a paycheck and creating a monthly budget.

“Participating in this program is a rewarding experience because it is an opportunity to assist students with their transition into a work environment,” said Ms. Pavinato. “As HR professionals, we are able to share first-day expectations with students and provide insight into the skills, attitude and behaviors that are necessary for success.”

Ms. Pavinato and Ms. Franker are members of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). In addition to SHRM, Ms. Pavinato is a member of the Society of Human Resource Professionals and President-Elect of the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.

Susan E. Good Appointed as Hearing Committee Member
Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP is pleased to announce that Susan E. Good was recently appointed by the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to serve as a Hearing Committee Member in the District I disciplinary court.

Good is Of Counsel to the firm and a member of the Litigation Department in both the Harrisburg and Philadelphia offices. She concentrates her practice in general litigation and government affairs.

Prior to earning her Juris Doctor degree, Good had a career in state government. She worked for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as an analyst with the House Majority Judiciary Committee.

Good earned her Juris Doctor degree from Widener University School of Law, Wilmington, DE (2004). She received her Bachelor of Humanities degree in American Studies from Penn State University (2000).

Lori Thompson Named Roanoke Bar\'s \"Young Lawyer of the Year\"
LeClair Ryan is proud to announce that Lori D. Thompson, partner in the Firm’s Roanoke office, was honored as the “Young Lawyer of the Year” at the Roanoke Bar Association’s Annual Meeting on April 28th, 2006.

According to the nomination criteria, the award recognizes an outstanding young lawyer who has demonstrated dedicated service to our community and the profession. The Roanoke Bar Association’s guidelines define a “young lawyer” as an attorney age 36 and under, or those admitted to practice three years or less.

Ms. Thompson currently serves on the Board of Governors of The Virginia Bar Association and as Chair of The Virginia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Virginia State Bar, and the Virginia Women Attorneys Association.

Locally, Ms. Thompson serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Roanoke Bar Association and is a former president of the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. Seven HDBDK Attorneys Name Super Lawyers for 2006

Shomidie Joins Evans & Dixon L.L.C.
Andrea L. Shomidie has joined Evans & Dixon, L.L.C. as marketing administrator. The announcement was made by Michael A. Castellano, CPA, executive director/chief financial officer.

In her new position, Shomidie provides marketing and public relations support to the firm’s offices in St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield, Mo., and Leawood, Kan. She handles internal and external communications as well as advertising and event support.

Shomidie brings experience in public relations and marketing in the insurance and financial businesses to her new position at Evans & Dixon.
