Chambers USA Guide Names 13 McAfee & Taft Attorneys as 2006 Leading Lawyers for Business
Thirteen McAfee & Taft attorneys – the most of any law firm in Oklahoma – were listed as leading lawyers in their respective practice areas in the recently released 2006 edition of the Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

Named to this year’s prestigious list are W. Chris Coleman (Corporate/Commercial), Richard D. Craig (Corporate/Commercial: Tax), Theodore M. Elam (Corporate/Commercial), Sam R. Fulkerson (Employment), Gary F. Fuller (Corporate/Commercial: Tax), John N. Hermes (Litigation), Frank D. Hill (Real Estate), John A. Kenney (Litigation), Tony G. Puckett (Employment), Richard A. Riggs (Real Estate), Reid E. Robison (Litigation), N. Martin Stringer (Corporate/Commercial), and Peter T. Van Dyke (Employment).

Chambers USA also ranked McAfee & Taft number one among Oklahoma law firms in the areas of corporate/commercial, employment law, and real estate. The firm’s litigation group, which was praised for its responsiveness and value for the money, was also highly ranked.

Researchers with London-based Chambers & Partners Publishing, publishers of the 2006 guide, conducted more than 10,000 interviews of attorneys and clients throughout the United States to identify and rank the nation’s leading business lawyers. The final rankings are based on such factors as technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client.

Contributors to the 2006 edition praised McAfee & Taft’s corporate/commercial transactional practice, which is the largest of its kind in Oklahoma, for its “‘highly creative’ practice that encompasses every type of commercial transaction from private equity investments and the setting up of new companies to securities offerings and public reportings.” The firm’s labor, employment and employee benefits practice was also recognized for its size and depth, the diversity of its client base, and its representation of large clients on a national level. In the area of real estate, Chambers USA noted the firm’s “true depth and breadth” and commented that contributors “observed that these lawyers are ‘deal-doers, not deal brokers,’ skilled at fostering a continuum of talented younger lawyers.
