Chambers USA Ranks Dickinson Wright PLLC and Eleven DW Attorneys Among Michigan\'s Best

Cynthia Holub elected to Houston Bar Association Construction Law Section Council
Cynthia Holub, a senior associate at Porter & Hedges, has been elected to the Houston Bar Association, Construction Law Section Council for 2006 - 2007.

Ms. Holub has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of litigation including construction and insurance coverage disputes. She was also named a ""Texas Rising Star"" in the 2006 and 2005 Texas Monthly survey of lawyers.

The Super Lawyer selection procedure includes peer nominations through ballots sent to more than 19,000 practicing attorneys in the state. Each attorney is asked to nominate the most outstanding lawyers that they have had personal experience with. Those peer nominations then go through a blue ribbon panel review for the final selections.

The Super Lawyers program was started 13 years ago by Law & Politics magazine. The first list included Minnesota Super Lawyers, and the program has now expanded to recognize the top attorneys in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

Michael S. Pepperman Chosen as One of Top One-Hundred Labor Relations Lawyers
Michael S. Pepperman, a partner in the labor relations and employment law department of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, has been chosen as one of the top one-hundred labor attorneys in the United States by the Labor Relations Institute, Inc., a leading industry information source.

Inclusion on the list puts Pepperman in the top one percent of labor attorneys in the U.S., making him one of the most successful and active attorneys representing companies in National Labor Relations Board monitored elections.

Pepperman was chosen for the elite list by being selected from more than 8,700 attorneys evaluated by the Labor Relations Institute. The honor of the “Top One Hundred” was determined by the number of NLRB elections in which each attorney provided representation and the success of those election outcomes.

“To be included in the Top One Hundred is a tremendously prestigious honor,” according to LRI President Donald P. Wilson. “It demonstrates a long-term and highly professional dedication to those attorneys’ clients and profession.”

Lateral to Paris boosts arbitration practice
Laurent Gouiffès has recently joined the Allen & Overy Paris office as "Counsel" to develop the international arbitration practice. Joining from the London office of Denton Wilde Sapte, Laurent officially started six months ago allowing him to work closely with the arbitration lawyers in the London office before moving to Paris.

His arrival in Paris marks a significant boost and investment into the global arbitration practice.

Commenting, Jean Claude Rivalland, head of the corporate department of Allen & Overy Paris, said "International arbitration is experiencing a boom in all jurisdictions and Paris is internationally recognised as a leading arbitration centre. Laurent's technical and commercial expertise are widely regarded and will be important in developing the Paris arbitration practice."

Stephen Jagusch, international arbitration partner, added "Laurent is one of the most talented young French international arbitration lawyers I know. He is a welcome addition to our global group."

Biography

Admitted to the 'Barreau de Paris' in 1998 and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales since 2005, Laurent Gouiffès (35) specialises in litigation, especially international arbitration and technical and energy related disputes. He has acted on numerous arbitrations, either as counsel to one of the parties or as secretary to the arbitral tribunal, in particular under the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, CAS and UNCITRAL rules. His work in technical and energy-related disputes has focused on the aerospace, oil and gas, electricity, nuclear and mining sectors.

Recent cases which Laurent has worked on include:

* Representing a German gas company against an English energy trading company in an ICC arbitration in relation to a gas price revision dispute (Geneva)
* Representing the government of an Eastern European country against an investor from a neighbouring country in an ICSID arbitration, initiated under the Energy Charter Treaty, in relation to a nuclear power station (Washington)
* Representing Luxembourg pharmaceutical companies against an American pharmaceutical company in an LCIA arbitration relating to the sale of a dermatological product (London).

Graduate of the 'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris' (1993), with a Post-masterate diploma (with honours) in public and private international law from the University of Paris, Panthéon-Assas (1996).

Laurent Gouiffès began his career as an associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Paris, in 1998, working on international arbitration, litigation and advisory work.

From September 2002 to November 2005, he worked as a senior associate at the London office of Denton Wilde Sapte, mainly in International Arbitration.

Laurent has been a lecturer in international arbitration for a post-graduate course (DESS Droit des affaires et fiscalité), University of Panthéon-Sorbonne, since 2001.

Laurent speaks regularly at conferences and seminars and has published many articles on arbitration, energy and public and private international law. His publications have appeared in The Middle East Economic Digest, International Energy Law and Taxation Review, La Tribune, Le Figaro, OGEL, Al Hayat, ICC Handbook, Gas Regulation, the IBA Newsletter and International Arbitration Law Review.

Gregory P. O\'Hara Appointed Managing Partner of Thelen Reid\'s Silicon Valley Office
Thelen Reid & Priest LLP announced today that leading environmental litigator Gregory P. O’Hara will take over as managing partner of the firm’s Silicon Valley office.

Mr. O’Hara is the chair of Thelen Reid’s Environmental practice group and a member of the firm’s Partnership Council. He is also a member of the Commercial Litigation Operating Committee. O’Hara replaces Kenneth L. Nissly, who is stepping down from the position after fifteen years.

Firm Chairman Stephen V. O’Neal thanked Nissly for his years of service and called the management shift an important piece in the firm’s plans for further growth and an expanded IP practice. “Ken has guided the office through its growth and fostered the development and expansion of the firm's Intellectual Property practice,” O’Neal said. “Greg has been a key player in firm management for several years and having him at the helm of one of our most important offices is key to our overall strategy.”

O’Hara has been exploring growth plans for the office that will better leverage the firm’s presence in Silicon Valley. “I very much look forward to my new role as managing partner,” O’Hara said. “We have excellent opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of our practices and to continue to serve our clients at the highest levels in the profession.”

O’Hara is widely recognized as one of the premier environmental attorneys in the U.S., especially on behalf of independent power producers in California and New York. O’Hara is also counsel for independent power producers involved in Greenfield developments
