Survey Cites Mintz Levin Among Top Five Corporate Law Firms in Boston
Corporate Board Member magazine today announced that Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. has been ranked among the best corporate law firms in Boston, MA, based on the results of the publication's sixth annual Legal Industry Research Study.

According to the directors of publicly traded companies, as well as in-house counsel surveyed by Corporate Board Member, Mintz Levin ranks fifth among the top law firms in the city. The complete survey results can be found in the magazine's July/August 2006 issue, ""America's Best Corporate Lawyers.""

Corporate Board Member?s annual study identifies the top 20 national corporate law firms in America and the top five corporate law firms in 25 major metropolitan areas, according to directors serving on boards of publicly traded companies listed with the NASDAQ Stock Market, New York Stock Exchange, or American Stock Exchange. To be included in the list of top regional law firms, each firm had to practice business, corporate or commercial law and had to be one of the 20 largest firms in its area by number of attorneys.

Virginia Super Lawyers Recognizes Mintz Levin Attorneys David Barmak and Susan Weller
Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. today announced that two of the firm's attorneys, David Barmak and Susan Weller, were selected as Virginia Super Lawyers for 2006. The list appears in the July 2006 issue of Richmond Magazine, and in a stand alone magazine, Virginia Super Lawyers. The publication identifies lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only five percent of Virginia lawyers were named 2006 Virginia Super Lawyers.

David Barmak is a member in the firm's Washington office, where he practices in and Chairs the firm's Employment, Labor & Benefits Section. He is also a member of the Firm's Policy Committee. Mr. Barmak also managed the Firm's Northern Virginia office until its recent consolidation with the Washington office. Mr. Barmak has extensive experience representing companies and their executives on a broad range of employment law issues, including wage and hour and discrimination laws, non-compete agreements, and executive employment arrangements. He has substantial trial experience, including jury and non-jury trials and arbitrations of employment law issues and complex business disputes. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1973) and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center (1976). He is a member of the Virginia, District of Columbia, Maryland and New York bars.

Susan Weller is a member in the firm's Washington office, practicing in the Intellectual Property Section. She manages the firm's trademark practice. Her practice involves all aspects of intellectual property and related corporate business transactions, with a particular emphasis on domestic and international trademark and copyright searching, prosecution, enforcement, counseling, and litigation. Ms. Weller was named to ""Who's Who Legal USA: Trademarks 2006,"" the 2006 Edition of ""The United Who's Who Registry,"" the 2006-2007 ""Honors Edition"" of ""Madison's Who's Who"" Registry, the 2006-2007 edition of ""Empire Who's Who Registry,"" and the 6th edition of the ""Guide to the World's Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners."" She received her B.A., cum laude, with a triple major and Special General Honors Distinction for her participation in the Honors Program, from the University of Miami (1978), and was awarded her J.D. from the National Law Center at George Washington University (1981).

Milbank Partner Named Top Women Litigator by Los Angeles Daily Journal
In a recent special feature, The Los Angeles Daily Journal named Linda Dakin-Grimm among the “Top 75 Women Litigators,” the international law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP announced today. Previously, Ms. Dakin-Grimm was named among the top 50 women lawyers in California in both 2003 and 2004.

Ms. Dakin-Grimm is a Los Angeles-based partner with Milbank whose practice focuses on reinsurance, litigation and arbitration. Her more notable trial victories include:

Successfully representing a major U.S. property-casualty insurer in a series of confidential arbitration cases involving pollution cleanup cost reimbursement obligations against Lloyds of London.

Successfully representing eight U.S. insurers and their European parents in a well-publicized dispute with the California Department of Insurance, over the Department’s purported regulation of European life insurers and reinsurers who do no business in the state. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ms. Dakin-Grimm’s clients.

She is currently preparing for a jury trial in Pennsylvania involving a dispute against a large reinsurance-insurance broker.

Ms. Dakin-Grimm joined Milbank in 1999. She received her B.A., cum laude, from Yale University and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Hogan & Hartson LLP has been recognized for its patent litigation work in the second annual ITC Survey published by IP Law & Business. Hogan & Hartson and another firm shared the honor of receiving the most mentions in this survey of law firms representing parties in section 337 patent disputes filed with the International Trade Commission (ITC) in 2005.

The National Law Journal Names Hogan & Hartson Chairman to “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America” List
The National Law Journal has named Hogan & Hartson LLP Chairman J. Warren Gorrell, Jr. to its list of the 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America. Published in the June 19 issue, the ""Profiles in Power"" report marks the first time in six years this publication has offered its take on the country's 100 most influential lawyers.

According to The National Law Journal, the publication looked for lawyers who had a national impact in their fields and beyond, especially over the past five years. The National Law Journal considered nominations from readers and conducted its own research, looking for lawyers outside the government with ""the clout to make big things happen.""

Highlighted in this profile are Gorrell’s leadership of the firm and his work on major initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions involving real estate investment trusts (REITs), including representing Equity Office Properties Trust in its $7.2 billion acquisition of Spieker Properties Inc. and CarrAmerica's $5.6 billion acquisition by The Blackstone Group.
