Sands Anderson Opens Blacksburg Office
The New River Valley-based attorneys and staff of Virginia law firm Sands Anderson Marks and Miller will relocate from Radford to Blacksburg this month, firm President C. Thomas Ebel announced today.

“We are pleased to be experiencing the kind of success that requires us to occupy more space in a new location, in spite of the obvious operational challenges a move of this scale involves,” said James E. Cornwell, managing partner of the office. The move will put nine attorneys, five paralegals and seven additional staff in the center of Blacksburg at 250 South Main Street, Suite 226, in Kent Square. The new office is next door to the Town of Blacksburg Municipal Building.

The firm has been located on Main Street in Radford since 1996, according to Cornwell. “When our client base was primarily in the area, this location was exactly what was needed,” said Cornwell. The office has been growing steadily for the last few years, reported Cornwell, and the need for more space became apparent this year.

Clients of the office, the largest of Sands Anderson’s locations outside of Richmond, include cities and counties in the New River Valley and surrounding areas, corporations, business owners, healthcare facilities and practitioners, employers and insurance companies. “We have enjoyed the hospitality and friendship of the Radford community, which has been our home for ten years, and we deeply appreciate the many fine relationships which remain here,” Cornwell stated.

Founded more than 150 years ago, Sands Anderson has 72 lawyers practicing among its offices in Richmond, Blacksburg, Fredericksburg and McLean, Virginia, and the Research Triangle of North Carolina. In 2006, it was ranked 11th in the Virginia Lawyers Weekly annual listing of the state’s largest law firms. Sands Anderson provides a full range of legal services to corporations and businesses, healthcare providers, financial institutions, state and local governments, the insurance industry and individuals. Sands Anderson is committed to changing your outlook on legal services. For more information, visit www.SandsAnderson.com.

The Mineola based law firm of Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn, LLP (FCSMC&C) recently announced that Robert H. Groman, Richard A. Ross and Russell G. Tisman, principles of Groman, Ross & Tisman, P.C., a general practice law firm based in Carle Place, NY, will join FCSMC&C as partners, with Richard A. Squires and Barry C. Feldman joining as associates. The Groman, Ross & Tisman 8 person firm, including administrative staff, will move to the FCSMC&C offices at 330 Old Country Road in Mineola, NY, effective July 1, 2006.

Founded in 1994, Groman, Ross & Tisman P.C. traces its roots back to 1969 when Robert H. Groman moved his practice from New York City to Nassau County. The firm represents both public and private business enterprises, insurance companies, entrepreneurs and individuals. By adding Robert H. Groman, Russell G. Tisman and Richard A. Ross as partners, FCSMC&C will strengthen its capabilities in corporate, commercial, tax, estate planning, probate, real estate and litigation, and add new practice areas in the nursing home and trade show industries, as well as expertise in employment and labor law.

“Groman, Ross and Tisman, P.C. has a well deserved reputation of producing outstanding results through exceptional lawyering. Their strengths in the areas of corporate and real estate law compliment our own, and we welcome the addition of new practice areas,” stated Managing Partner Jeffrey D. Forchelli. “This expansion enables us to continue to meet the increased needs of our clients. I am pleased to add such a talented team of attorneys to our roster,” Mr. Forchelli further explained.

Having celebrated its 30 year anniversary in June 2006, the addition of Groman, Ross and Tisman is the fifth expansion undertaken by FCSMC&C in the last six years. Founded in 1976 by Forchelli, FCSMC&C has based its growth on adding established practices, including William S. Cohn in 1998; Curto, Barton & Alesi, P.C. in 1999; Terence Smolev P.C. in 2001; Ricca & Donnelly in 2002; Senator John J. Flanagan in 2003 (as Counsel); Gary M. Kushner in 2004; and Robert F. Chicco in 2005. Using strategic growth as a tool to provide clients with a broad range of legal expertise has enabled FCSMC&C to position itself as one of Long Island’s most distinguished law firms.

On joining the firm, partner Robert H. Groman remarked, “I am enthusiastic about our association with FCSMC&C. Joining the firm will allow us to have increased capabilities in a broad spectrum of practice areas and enable us to offer comprehensive legal services to our expanding client base. I am confident that the new partnership will be nothing short of a huge success for both the firm and the clients.

FCSMC&C is a full-service law firm with offices in Mineola and Melville, NY, and over 40 attorneys specializing in a broad range of practice areas including land use and zoning, real estate, environmental law, tax certiorari, litigation, banking and financing, commercial and corporate transactions, loan closings and bulk loan sales, trusts and estates, tax and elder law, bankruptcy and insolvency, employment and labor law, municipal law, and business and personal transactions.
