Walters Named to Professional Development Consortium
Kristi K. Walters, Special Counsel and Director of Professional Development & Diversity for Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, has been named to the Professional Development Consortium.

The Professional Development Consortium is a national organization that brings together individuals at law firms, government agencies and corporations who oversee professional development programs for attorneys. An attorney with Parker Poe since 1999, Ms. Walters was named the firm’s Director of Professional Development & Diversity in January 2006. In this newly created position, Ms. Walters designs and integrates programs that impact professional development including recruitment, training, mentoring, leadership development and career planning. She dedicates two-thirds of her time to this new role, while continuing to practice law in the firm’s Employment Practice Group.

Ms. Walters received her J.D., with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1999 and her B.A., cum laude, from Davidson College in 1991.

Russ Munsch Selected For Recognition In K&A Restructuring Register
Russell Munsch, founding shareholder of Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C., a Texas-based law firm with offices in Dallas, Houston and Austin, has been recognized by the K&A Restructuring Register as one of the top 72 attorneys who practice in the restructuring, reorganization, insolvency and bankruptcy arenas in the United States. Qualification for listing in the Register is by invitation only and requires selection by a 18 member advisory panel.

Steven Metalitz and Eric Schwartz join MS&K
Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP announced today that leading intellectual property attorneys Steven J. Metalitz and Eric J. Schwartz have joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as partners.

Steven J. Metalitz was formerly a name partner at Washington-based Smith & Metalitz LLP. He represents clients in the publishing, recording, motion picture, software, and e-commerce industries. Metalitz has worked with major coalitions of the copyright industry sector on key public policy issues, including the Creative Incentive Coalition, where he was involved in the drafting and enactment of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President of the International Intellectual Property Alliance, and as President of the Intellectual Property Constituency of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Metalitz has taught copyright law at the George Washington University Law School and has published extensively on copyright and Internet law topics.

Eric J. Schwartz also joins Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp from Smith & Metalitz. His practice includes traditional copyright and emerging electronic information and delivery issues, commercial transactions, domestic and international copyright law and policy matters, litigation strategy, and Copyright Office practices. Schwartz has served as Acting General Counsel for the United States Copyright Office and currently holds the position of Vice President and Special Counsel to the International Intellectual Property Alliance. He is also the founding Director and a Board member of the National Film Preservation Foundation, and serves as pro bono Counsel to the Library of Congress’ National Film Preservation Board. Schwartz is an Adjunct Professor of Copyright Law at Georgetown University Law School.

James W. Thweatt III Joins Keating Muething & Klekamp
James W. Thweatt III (Jay) has joined Keating Muething & Klekamp as an associate in the employee benefits and executive compensation practice group.

Mr. Thweatt's practice is concentrated in the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation advising companies on the design, formation and operation of qualified retirement plans and employee welfare benefit plans, including defined benefit pension plans, profit-sharing plans, 401(K) plans, health plans, cafeteria plans, and fringe benefit plans. He also represents clients before the IRS and Department of Labor with respect to determination letter requests, voluntary correction submissions, and other employee benefit-related matters.
