Blank Rome Hires Chief Human Resources Officer
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Natalie H. McCleaf has joined the Firm as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Based in Blank Rome’s Washington, D.C. office, Ms. McCleaf will direct the Firm’s overall human resources function.

“Natalie brings a tremendous amount of experience and leadership in handling human resources issues in complex institutions,” said Carl M. Buchholz, Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer. “Her expertise in HR strategy will be a great asset to the Firm. We are extremely pleased to have Natalie join our leadership team.”

Ms. McCleaf comes to Blank Rome most recently from Bearing Point, Inc. (formerly KPMG Consulting) where she served as Global Managing Director of Human Resources. In this capacity, Ms. McCleaf provided corporate leadership for human resources functions for 17,000 employees in 32 countries. During this time, her responsibilities included HR transformation, workforce strategy and management, rewards and recognition, organizational effectiveness, performance management, and globalization and transformation of the HR function. Prior to that, Ms. McCleaf served as National Director of Human Resources for KPMG Consulting and was responsible for HR strategy and policy, performance management and career development, compensation and rewards, organizational effectiveness and training, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and diversity programs.

As CHRO, Ms. McCleaf will lead and manage all aspects of the Firm’s Human Resource function, including strategic planning, diversity initiatives, attorney relations, training and organizational development, traditional human resources functions, employee compensation, payroll, benefits, staff relations, and program assessment.

Sharon I. Haensly Joins Williams, Kastner & Gibbs PLLC
Sharon I. Haensly, formerly with Morisset, Schlosser, Jozwiak & McGaw, has joined the Seattle office of Williams, Kastner & Gibbs PLLC as an Of Counsel attorney. Ms. Haensly's practice will focus on Indian law & gaming. She also has extensive experience in the areas of environmental, land use, natural resources and cultural resources protection, and has practiced before state and federal administrative agencies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and before state and federal courts. Ms. Haensly was previously a staff attorney with the Swinomish Tribe and, before that, with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She received her B.A. from Cornell University, and her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.

ALEXANDER KOFF TO CHAIR GLOBAL PRACTICE AT WHITEFORD, TAYLOR & PRESTON
Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP is pleased to welcome Alexander Koff to the firm’s Baltimore office. Koff joins the firm’s Global Practice as Partner and Department Chair. He most recently practiced at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky, & Walker LLP.

“Alex has a sophisticated background in representing businesses internationally and extensive experience in global markets, dispute resolution, transnational regulatory issues, and international development assistance,” noted Albert J. Mezzanotte, Jr., managing partner. “Our clients are impressed by the resources he brings to the table, his energy and drive, and his commitment to building strong client relationships.”

Alexander W. Koff assists companies, governments, and industry associations in meeting the challenges of globalization. His experience includes a $2.5 billion federal tax fraud investigation, a $1 billion intellectual property matter, a $970 million NAFTA investor-state arbitration, and a $300 million World Trade Organization proceeding. Koff twice served as an International Trade Expert for the United Nations Development Programme in Asia, and advised the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on international economic reforms as Resident Legal Adviser to a U.S. government-funded program.

A Gold and Silver U.S. Congressional Medal recipient (Public Law 96-114), Koff received his J.D. and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan (1996 and 1992 respectively) and his M.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Cambridge in 1993. Prior to entering private practice, he interned at the U.S. Department of State and in the legal offices of the United Nations, the U.S. National Security Council, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in Geneva.

Koff’s move to Whiteford, Taylor & Preston satisfies the expanding needs of the firm’s clients. “To succeed in a global environment, you need experienced attorneys that understand the international system and your business objectives – that’s us,” explained Koff.

Firm Announces New Managing Board Chair and Members
The partners of Tonkon Torp LLP have elected Michael M. Morgan to chair the firm’s managing board. Also elected to the board are Kenneth D. Stephens, Ronald L. Greenman and Kurt W. Ruttum. They join Darcy M. Norville, who was elected in 2005.

Morgan is a senior partner in the firm's Energy, Telecommunications and Regulated Industries Practice Group. Recognized as a leader in energy law, he has been included in The Best Lawyers in America® for the last 10 consecutive years. Morgan has represented clients before the Oregon Public Utility Commission, Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, Bonneville Power Administration and Federal Communications Commission. He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago School of Law in 1972.

Stephens, a founding partner of Tonkon Torp, focuses his practice on corporate and securities matters and has extensive experience in debt and equity financings, take-over contests and secondary securities markets. He served as assistant counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs in connection with its Securities Industry Study, and is recognized as a leading corporate and banking lawyer by The Best Lawyers in America® and Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Stephens has frequently served on the Tonkon Torp managing board, including several terms as chair. He earned his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.

Greenman's business law practice focuses on securities, finance and corporate acquisitions, and counseling growing companies. He has been actively involved in venture capital financings and later-stage financings including public offerings, as well as structuring and implementing management leveraged buyouts for private and publicly held companies. A 1974 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, Greenman is recognized as a corporate law leader in The Best Lawyers in America® and Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

Ruttum’s practice emphasizes mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings and general corporate counseling. He is past chair of the firm's Business Practice Group. Ruttum has extensive experience representing companies, underwriters, lenders and venture capitalists in public offerings, commercial loans and private placements of debt and equity securities. He is a 1986 graduate of the University of Chicago School of Law.

Nine Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell Partners Named Florida 2006 "Super Lawyers

Steven A. Karg Named as Chair of NJSBA Products Liability and Toxic Tort Section
The law firm of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., headquartered in Somerville, New Jersey, is pleased to announce that member Steven A. Karg has been named as Chair of the Products Liability and Toxic Tort Section for the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) for a one-year term beginning June 20, 2006.

The Products Liability and Toxic Tort Section of the NJSBA monitors products liability and toxic tort statutes and general products liability and toxic tort law from both a personal injury perspective and a property damage perspective. The NJSBA serves, protects, fosters and promotes the personal and professional interests of its members. Steven Karg focuses his practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on products liability defense. He has substantial experience defending manufacturers and/or distributors of a wide variety of products such as prescription medications, tobacco products, industrial equipment, marine engines, chemicals and chemical processing systems, automobile lifts, pumps, tow tractors, automobile accessories, trailers, forklifts, fasteners, soil remediation and food preparation equipment. He regularly represents clients at both the trial and appellate level.

Karg frequently speaks to various organizations about products liability issues including the American Bar Association, Meritas, Inc., New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association, New Jersey Defense Association, New Jersey Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, New Jersey Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society, Northeast Pharmaceutical Attorneys and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. In addition, he has also authored many articles on various products liability and toxic tort issues.

Karg is a member of the Somerset County Bar Association (Treasurer, 2005-2007; Trustee, 2002-2005; Co-Chairperson, Civil Practice Committee, 2002-2004), the New Jersey Defense Association (Vice President, Central Region; Chairperson, Products Liability Committee, 2004-2006) and the Defense Research Institute (Member, Products Liability and Drug & Medical Device Committees).

A resident of Branchburg, Karg earned his J.D., cum laude, from Seton Hall University and his B.S., magna cum laude, from Trenton State College in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
