The United States Supreme Court has made it easier for employees to prosecute claims of retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in its recent decision of Burlington Northern v. White, No. 05-259 (US June 22, 2006).

Fennemore Craig Adds Two New Senior Attorneys To Its’ Tucson Office
Fennemore Craig adds two new senior attorneys to its’ Tucson office. William Asdell joins as director in the estate planning practice area and Marian Abram joins as Of-Counsel in the real estate practice area.

William L. Asdell has joined Fennemore Craig as Director, in Fennemore Craig’s Tucson office. His practice will be focused on estate planning. Mr. Asdell also has strong experience in asset protection planning and business succession planning. Mr. Asdell was formerly with Taylor, Hillman, Shelby and Asdell, Ltd. where his practice was focused on estate and tax planning. Mr. Asdell is a native of Arizona where he attended the University of Arizona for both his law degree and his undergraduate degree in philosophy. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Arizona.

Marian C. Abram has joined the Tucson office of Fennemore Craig as Of-Counsel. Her practice area will focus on real estate with a concentration on needs of convenience stores. She has formerly served as Senior Attorney and Assistant Secretary to Sealy Inc. where she represented the corporation in real estate acquisitions, divestments, and environmental risk assessment and compliance. She has managed large multi-million dollar construction projects which include a new corporate headquarters. Ms. Abram is a graduate of Case Western Reserve Law School. She also has her M.S.S.A. from Case Western School of Applied Social Sciences.

Fennemore Craig Attorneys Elected for Bar Leadership
Four attorneys with the law firm of Fennemore Craig have been elected for leadership positions with the State Bar of Arizona.

Amy Abdo is the new Chair of the Labor and Employment Section. She is serving a oneyear term as Chair. She also served as Chair-Elect, Treasurer and Secretary for the Labor and Employment Section. Ms. Abdo practices law in Arizona, California and Nevada in the areas of business litigation and employment law. She represents companies in franchise litigation, commercial disputes, contract claims and the defense of tort claims. Her experience includes jury trials, defending employers against allegations of employment discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, wrongful discharge and employment-related torts. Ms. Abdo frequently presents seminars on employment.

Anne Kleindienst is the new Chair of the Business Law Section, having previously served in various officer capacities for the Section. She is serving a one-year term as Chair. Ms. Kleindienst practices in the area of business law, representing large and small businesses as well as financial institutions on a broad range of corporate and finance matters. She has experience in business formation and counseling, mergers and acquisitions, corporate debt finance transactions, representation of issuers, borrowers and indenture trustees in municipal bond financings, franchising, and trademark registration and licensing matters.

Paul Krulisky is the Vice Chair of the Securities Regulation Section. He is serving a oneyear term as Vice Chair. Mr. Krulisky practices in the areas of corporate and securities law. He possesses experience in the mergers and acquisitions area, representing buyers and sellers in asset and stock-based transactions, mergers and other business acquisitions and reorganizations. He also represents clients in private securities offerings and other general corporate matters.

Susan Rosenfield is the Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Section. She is serving a one-year term as Vice Chair. Ms. Rosenfield is a registered patent attorney, and her practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law, including the adoption, defense and enforcement of copyright, patent, trademark and trade secret rights. She represents corporations in the pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, personal products, cosmetics, agriculture and food, music, movie production, electronic equipment, environmental remediation, telecommunications, construction and internet content provider industries, as well as lenders, such as banks and venture capitalists.

There are 29 sections within the Bar, each one committed to bettering the practice area and attorneys it represents. Members of each section, especially the executive counsels, are available to the Bar’s Board of Governors and to the Bar itself when their practice area expertise and insight is needed. McKee Nelson Corporate and Tax Attorneys Join Forces in First-of-Its-Kind Utility Industry Joint Venture, Demonstrate Firm's Strength in Interdisciplinary Transactions
McKee Nelson corporate partner Charles Sweet and tax partner Joe Garcia recently joined forces to represent TXU Corp. in the creation of a first-of-its-kind utility industry joint venture. TXU Corp. created a joint venture with InfrastruX Group, Inc., a national provider of utility-related construction and maintenance services. At the same time, TXU Electric Delivery (a subsidiary of TXU Corp.) and the joint venture, InfrastruX Energy Services, entered into a 10-year, $8.7 billion agreement for the venture to provide design, construction and maintenance services to TXU Electric Delivery. The joint venture is expected to create a business with the scale to provide distinctive services in utility design, operations, maintenance and construction to TXU Electric Delivery and other utilities across North America, helping them serve customers more reliably and efficiently.
