Powell Goldstein Continues Aggressive Growth with New Dallas, TX Office and Acquisition of 13-Member Capital Markets Group
Powell Goldstein LLP announces a significant expansion with the opening of a new office in Dallas, TX and the acquisition of a Capital Markets Group. Thirteen members in total will join the Firm: 2 partners and 7 other attorneys, one of counsel, as well as 3 paralegals (breakdown by office is listed below). They all come to Powell Goldstein from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and will join the Firm's existing offices in Atlanta and Washington, and will anchor the opening of the new Dallas location.

Partner Robin R. Green will manage the Firm's new Dallas office and partner Keith A. Dunsmore will join the Firm's Washington office. The new Dallas office will be located on the 32nd floor of the JP Morgan Chase Tower at 2200 Ross Avenue.

While Powell Goldstein has existing capabilities in servicing the capital markets industry, the incoming group adds a national practice that will appeal to an institutional client base and enhance the firm's depth, especially in the area of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). This new Capital Markets Practice Group will strengthen the Firm's Financial Products and Real Estate Services Department. With these new additions, Powell Goldstein's Real Estate Group becomes one of the largest in the Southern and Mid-Atlantic regions with over 70 lawyers and other professionals spanning three offices.

""We are extremely excited to bring this group on board as we continue to aggressively grow the firm. Robin, Keith, and their team are top-tier attorneys who bring exceptional CMBS capabilities,"" said James J. McAlpin, Jr., Powell Goldstein Chairman. ""In addition, this gives us an entree into a new geographic market, one that we have been looking at for some time now. The Dallas and Texas legal markets are appealing to us given our firm's core strengths in the areas of health care, banking, real estate, and litigation.""

""Our group is extremely excited about the opportunity to open the Dallas office for Powell Goldstein. Given the firm's existing strengths in real estate, banking and financial services, it was an excellent fit for our Capital Markets Practice and will allow us to better serve the needs of our current clients,"" said Ms. Green.

""Moving back to Powell Goldstein is personally very satisfying for me. More importantly, Powell Goldstein has a tremendous platform for our growing Capital Markets group,"" said Mr. Dunsmore. ""We look forward to working together with our new colleagues at Powell Goldstein to continue to provide our clients with the highest level of service.""

Robin R. Green joins the Firm from Akin Gump where she was a partner in the Real Estate and Finance Practice in the Dallas office. Her practice focuses primarily on real estate finance and commercial mortgage-backed securities. She has been active in the real estate securitization market since 1991 with the issuance of the Resolution Trust Corporation's first ""M Series"" securitization. She represents various lenders, master and special servicers, and real estate investors in all aspects of the market with a special focus on origination, restructuring and workout. Ms. Green attended the University of North Texas and received her J.D. from Baylor University, where she was a member of the Baylor Law Review.

Keith A. Dunsmore returns to the Firm from Akin Gump where he was a partner since 2001. He was previously with Powell Goldstein from 1984 - 1999, and at Kilpatrick Stockton LLP from 1999 - 2001. Mr. Dunsmore's practice focuses on the securitization of commercial real estate assets, as well as on general corporate finance matters. Much of his work centers on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) transactions, including a full range of post-issuance issues, loan assumptions, modifications, REMIC-related issues and defeasance transactions, representing master servicers and special servicers. He has been very involved with several industry associations, including the Mortgage Bankers Association and the CMSA, and is currently vice-chair of the Legislative Committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association.
