Partner Larry Bigus Assists American Ingredients with Search for New Headquarter's Location
American Ingredients Company, a Kansas City, Missouri-based food ingredients researcher and supplier for the baking industry, has announced plans to move to Lenexa, Kan. American Ingredients produces emulsifiers, shelf life extenders, vitamin-enriching agents and other products used in the commercial baking industry.

The search for a new location for American Ingredients was spearheaded by the company’s vice president John Kalal and its attorney, Larry Bigus, a partner with Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP. Ed Elder of Grubb & Ellis/The Winbury Group represented the owner of the building.

Both the Kansas Bioscience Authority and the State of Kansas offered incentives to American Ingredients, including research vouchers to be used at Kansas universities. Kansas Bioscience Authority is working with American Ingredients to advance its research in collaboration with Kansas universities.

Currently located in three buildings located at 3947 Broadway in the Westport area, America Ingredients recently merged with its sister company Caravan Products Company, Totowa, New Jersey. Due to the merger, American Ingredients is consolidating, moving the headquarters as well as administration and research operations.

American Ingredients will move into an existing building located at 7905 Quivira in Lenexa. The facility was a former call center for T-Mobile. The building will be reconfigured to accommodate the 100-plus employees who will move into the approximately 50,000-square feet of space. American Ingredients also has a factory and warehouse in nearby Grandview, Mo., and a processing plant in Kansas City, Kan., that will not be effected by the consolidation.

The Lenexa site provides a pleasant environment for American Ingredients.

“We thought it would give us a place that’s employee-friendly with easy access and lots of shopping and restaurants around,” Bigus said. “We looked at things further south and west in Johnson County, but this was geographically ideal.”

Bigus also indicated working with the State of Kansas and the Kansas Bioscience Authority were the major factors in the decision to locate in Kansas.
