Structured Finance Partners Recognized as Top Leading Lawyers
Cameron Cowan, a structured finance partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, was recognized as one of the leading structured finance lawyers in the world in The Expert Guides Best of the Best 2006, published in July. Cowan, a member of the firm's Executive Committee who is based in Washington, D.C., received more nominations from lawyers and clients than any structured finance lawyer in the world, according to the guide's publisher.

In addition to the global recognition, four of the 25 lawyers on the Best of the Best list for the United States are Orrick partners. Those four include Cowan, Joshua Raff (co-leader of the structured finance group), Mark Levie (managing director for transactional practices) and Thomas Mitchell.

The recognition is the latest demonstration of Orrick's successful engagements for clients in structured finance transactions. Orrick ranks first among law firms as legal adviser to both issuers and managers in the current Thomson Financial league tables for all international CDOs.

As a recognized leader in securitization, Cowan is a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the American Securitization Forum (ASF) and is currently chair of the American Securitization Forum’s Legal, Regulatory, Tax and Accounting Committee. In 2003, he testified before Congress for the ASF on the topic of predatory lending.

Legal Media Group, publisher of The Expert Guides Best of the Best 2006, selects top practitioners based on the number of recommendations they receive from peers and clients.

Orrick also was recognized in the most recent edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. The publication cited Orrick's structured finance practice as ""very impressive on all accounts"" with attorneys commended for ""their intelligent, constructive manners, and refusal to play fast and loose."" In addition to Cowan, Orrick structured finance partners recognized in Chambers as ""leading individuals"" were group co-leaders Raff and Al Sawyers, Washington, D.C. partner Michael Mitchell, and New York partners Katharine Crost and James Croke (who just joined the group along with Peter Manbeck).
