Bracewell & Giuliani Article Headlines in Nation's First Student-Edited Energy Law Journal
The inaugural issue of the nation's first student-edited energy law journal The Texas Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law debuted this month and features an article, ""Yellow Stripes and Dead Amarillos: A Discussion of Oil and Gas Provisions in the Energy Policy Act of 2005"" written by Bracewell & Giuliani LLP government relations and strategy practice co-head and partner Scott Segal who practices in the Washington, D.C., office. The article provides description of the politics and context that produced the Energy Policy Act of 2005, signed by President George W. Bush on Aug. 8, with a particular emphasis on oil and gas issues. Click here to read the article in full.

Bracewell has already played a significant role in the publication's evolution. Houston business partner J.J. McAnelly is on the editorial board; Joel Zipp, Washington, D.C., energy and regulatory partner, spoke at a journal conference earlier this year; and the firm co-sponsored the publication's inaugural issue as well as its official launch event in Austin.

The publication is also directly relevant to Bracewell's key practice areas as Paul Fox, Austin partner and co-head of the energy and regulatory section explained, ""The issues covered by the new journal are top-of-mind for many of our clients and potential clients. As a firm, we plan to partner closely with these students to provide editorial direction, contribute relevant articles and provide legal and industry insight.""

The Texas Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law spearheaded by students from The University of Texas School of Law focuses on promoting scholarship in the energy legal field. The journal is currently distributed to in-house and private practice energy lawyers in the United States and has a growing international subscription base.
