CROWELL & MORING PARTNER GEORGE D. RUTTINGER SELECTED AS TOP WASHINGTON LAWYER FINALIST
Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that the Washington Business Journal has selected partner George D. Ruttinger as a finalist in their search for the 2006 Top Washington Lawyers. From a pool of more than 400 nominations, Ruttinger was chosen as one of three finalists in the Government Contracts category for his work on WMATA litigation, relating to the construction of Metro's Green Line, that spanned 15 years and ended in March 2006 with a successful judgment of over $40 million for our client.

Ruttinger, chair of the firm's Government Contracts Group, specializes in contract litigation and counseling, including disputes arising out of supply, construction and service contracts. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, minitrials, mediations, and federal administrative agencies. Ruttinger also has expertise in complex multi-district litigation of antitrust and tort claims.

New Admiralty and Maritime Section Expands Firm's Areas of Expertise
Chamberlain Hrdlicka today announced the addition of a Admiralty and Maritime Section to the firm as well as the addition of four new attorneys.

The newly formed Admiralty and Maritime Section handles matters of offshore drilling and production, marine transportation, marine construction, dredging, and other affairs involving the waterfront. The new attorneys who comprise the Admiralty and Maritime Section at Chamberlain Hrdlicka include the following:

Dan Pipitone is a Shareholder and Section Chairman for the Admiralty and Maritime section at Chamberlain Hrdlicka. He received a B.A. from Edinboro State University and a J.D. from Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor for the Dickinson Law Review. Formerly a partner at Phelps Dunbar, Pipitone is a Proctor in Admiralty Law as well as a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the National Association of Defense Counsel and the Maritime Law Association of the United States.

Kevin Dossett is also an Associate in the Admiralty and Maritime Section. He received his B.A. in History from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA, a J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and an L.L.M. in Admiralty from Tulane University School of Law. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and the Houston Bar Association.

William ""Hank"" Stout is an Associate in the Admiralty and Litigation Sections of the firm. He received a B.A. in Marketing from the University of Mississippi and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Stout is involved in the underwriting committee for Steps for Students and is a United Way Young Leader.

In addition to the three new admiralty and maritime attorneys, Chamberlain Hrdlicka has added a shareholder in its Tax Section.

Pam Powers is a Shareholder, working in the firm's Tax Section. She received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Houston - Clear Lake and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where she served as the editor of the Law Review. In addition to her extensive legal expertise, Powers previously served as an Instructor for Conviser-Duffy CPA Review. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association. Powers also volunteers with I Have A Dream.

Bullivant names new Seattle office shareholder-in-charge
Bullivant Houser Bailey PC, a multi-service West Coast law firm, has announced Seattle shareholder Troy D. Greenfield has been named shareholder-in-charge of the Seattle office. He succeeds former shareholder-in-charge Thomas D. Adams, who said “Troy’s leadership skills are a perfect fit for this role. As our Seattle office enters its 20th year of service, we are delighted to have Troy as shareholder-in-charge and are confident he will continue to grow and strengthen our office.”

Mr. Greenfield will continue his intellectual property and commercial litigation practice. Admitted to practice in Washington and Oregon, he earned his law degree from the Willamette University College of Law and his B.A. from Whitman College.

Intellectual Property Practice Expands With Two Biotech Lawyers
Geoffrey Karny and Ronald Kamis, lawyers who represent life science companies in intellectual property matters, have joined the Washington, D.C., office of Baker & Daniels LLP.

Both partners will help the law firm expand its legal services in intellectual property and life sciences on a national scope. In addition to working with Baker & Daniels' D.C. office practices, Karny and Kamis will maintain close ties to life sciences initiatives across the firm.

They will counsel biotech and pharmaceutical clients in the creation and use of intellectual property to achieve strategic business objectives and create value. Both are highly experienced in counseling, prosecution, intellectual property transactions, opinions and investor due diligence. They have worked in virtually all technical areas of biotechnology.

Before joining Baker & Daniels, Karny was a special counsel at Cooley Godward LLP, where he provided strategic counseling and opinions, prepared and prosecuted biotech patent applications and conducted investor due diligence for clients.

Kamis was a special counsel at Heller Ehrman LLP and a member of that firm's life sciences practice group before joining Baker & Daniels. He counseled clients in negotiating complex licensing transactions, managing global patent portfolios and assessing intellectual property aspects of acquisitions, public offerings and other commercial transactions.

Karny has practiced intellectual property law for more than 20 years with law firms and companies. He started the biotech and chemical patent practice for a large Washington, D.C., law firm and managed the patent departments of two biotech companies.

Karny also served four years as a staff lawyer in the U.S. Congress Office of Technology Assessment and testified at four Congressional hearings. He is a 1973 graduate of the New York University School of Law. Karny received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Cornell University.

For more than 10 years, Kamis has counseled life sciences companies in intellectual property matters in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields. His counsel includes the technical areas of antibodies, stem cells, agricultural biotechnology, vaccines and gene therapy.

Kamis graduated from George Washington University National Law Center with highest honors and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University cum laude. Kamis also earned a master's degree in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University. Before Heller Ehrman, he practiced law in the biotechnology practice group at Foley & Lardner in D.C.

Peter J. Neeson Elected Chair of ABA TIPS
Rawle & Henderson LLP is pleased to announce that Peter J. Neeson of the Firm’s Philadelphia office has been elected Chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association (ABA). Peter Neeson will be officially installed during a ceremony to be held at the American Bar Association's 2006 Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, August 3-8, 2006.

TIPS is the only national professional group to bring together plaintiffs’ lawyers, defense lawyers and insurance and corporate counsel for the exchange of information and ideas.
