Associate brings International Perspective to Corporate Group
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Svetlana M. Fowlers has joined the Firm as an Associate in the Business Department. Ms. Fowler will be based in Blank Rome’s Philadelphia office.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, Ms. Fowler served as an Associate in Greenberg Traurig LLP’s New York office in the Corporate and Securities Department. Ms. Fowler concentrates her practice in the area of public and private equity offerings, debt financing, and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Fowler also has experience translating legal documents relating to international commercial arbitration and other commercial and corporate matters involving Russian entities.

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York, Ms. Fowler received her law degree from Duke University School of Law and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. Ms. Fowler holds a Doctorate in Philosophy and undergraduate degree from Moscow State University.

Dean Mead

REZANKA SWORN IN AS PRESIDENT OF BREVARD COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION
Kimberly Bonder Rezanka, a member of the law firm Dean Mead’s Viera office, was recently sworn in as president of the Brevard County Bar Association by the Honorable George W. Maxwell III. She previously served the Association in other positions, including president-elect, treasurer, secretary and board member. The Brevard County Bar Association is a voluntary association of more than 600 Brevard County lawyers. One of its many missions is to promote professionalism, ethics, and competence within the Brevard County legal community.

At the Annual Meeting of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel held July 21 - July 30, Rebecca Levy-Sachs of R&C's Insurance Group was appointed Vice Chair of the Projects and Objectives Committee, which plans educational programming for the organization. Her responsibilities will be outreach to other professional organizations servicing the Insurance and Corporate Counsel industry. Additionally, Rebecca was named Chair of the Technology Committee, and re-appointed Vice-Chair of the Property Insurance Section.

Foley One of Four National Firms Recognized as a BTI Market Trailblazer
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that the firm has been named to the 2006 BTI Market Movers list, a ranking of law firms identified by corporate counsel as leaders implementing a strategic approach to delivering legal service. Foley is recognized as one of four Market Trailblazers, along with DLA Piper, Jones Day and Skadden, identified by corporate counsel for their unique ability to leverage client-focused strategies with bold approaches to the market.

The list is developed by The BTI Consulting Group, a Boston-based market research and management consulting firm, which features the Market Trailblazers in its 2006 BTI Market Movers: Law Firms Shaping the Legal Market report. The BTI Market Movers gauge the opinions of more than 240 corporate counsel on the firms that provide strategic and innovative programs to their clients. The corporate counsel surveyed believe that evidence of strategic thinking is likely to find its way into the firms' client work.

The BTI report revealed several reasons why law firms are identified by clients as market-moving innovators. Some of the innovations identified by corporate counsel include soliciting feedback from clients as part of the law firm change process and developing bold market strategies and business development initiatives.

In addition, the report tracked the key factors that shaped corporate counsel's perception of innovation. According to BTI, the corporate counsel surveyed mentioned Foley as being innovative leaders in market-driven growth strategies and technology. Their definition of both categories include:

Marshall Grodner Contributes to The Business Lawyer
Marshall Grodner, an attorney in the firm's Baton Rouge office, has been serving as Co-Chair of the Joint Task Force on Deposit Account Control Agreements of the Business Law Section of the ABA. This task force recently published the ""Initial Report of the Joint Task Force on Deposit Account Control Agreements,"" 61 The Business Lawyer 745 (February 2006). The Business Lawyer is the law review journal for the Business Law Section of the ABA.

Also, the Louisiana Legislature passed House Concurrent Resolution 69 requesting that the Louisiana State Law Institute re-write Louisiana laws dealing with tax sales and adjudicated property. Marshall Grodner has been appointed Reporter for the Adjudicated Property Committee of the Louisiana State Law Institute to deal with drafting these statutes.
